The first concert I attended without adult supervision was David Bowie during his 'Isolar II' tour. Simon House was playing in the band at that time. I think that was the only time I saw him perform live. Always enjoyed his contributions with Hawkwind as well as various other bands and artists he collaborated with during his career.

James Lowe, lead singer for The Electric Prunes, best known for their hit, the often-covered "I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)".

Bummer.

This album from them is one of my all-time favorite live recordings...

Another writer I really like. Haven't read any of the fiction but his biography of Jean Genet, who is one of my favorite writers of fiction, is very very good. City Boy, his memoir about New York in the 1970s, is very gossipy and fun to read. The same has to be said of his memoir about his time in Paris in the 1980s, Inside a Pearl: My Years in Paris. A talented guy, a prolific writer and sex haver. What's not to like.

This one really stings. Bob Andrews, keyboard player for Graham Parker's backing band The Rumour (The Rumour also recorded separately from Parker), the band Brinsley Schwarz, and many other musical projects.

I never did get to see Bob play with the Rumour. But I did see him in a duo setting with Parker some years back--fine show.

Arthur Hamilton, songwriter, recently passed away at the age of 98. Perhaps his best known song was "Cry Me A River."

Sly Stone

I may be showing my age. But Sly was so incredibly influential. I would contend he was more influential and more of an innovator than Prince. As a very young person, his tunes helped foster the beginning of my music fanaticism. It's too bad his drug problems marred his career. RIP, Sly.

Classic song. I think this version might be the first one I ever heard and maybe my favorite...

For some reason, I thought he had already passed away. Death déjà vu.
