The obituaries predictably understate the role of Tunisia in her life but she was born there (to Italian parents) and thought of herself as Tunisian, something you can hear in her beautiful French. She learned Italian only much later in life, so she could become an Italian film star!

I googled "famous Tunisians" after seeing another obituary not even mentioning Cardinale's native country... and turns out that Sandra Milo, the other hottie from 8 1/2, the one from AFX's avi, is ALSO Tunisian-born Italian! Who knew... Only unlike Cardinale she actually grew up in Italy. There was a lot of movement between northern Africa and Italy in the 1930s and 1940s.

I used to watch that show on PBS sometimes. Ms. Routledge was very skilled. Not many actors could make a character so obnxious yet oddly endearing. Even my father-in-law enjoyed that show, and I wouldn't have thought that would be his cup of tea, no pun intended.

I saw a solo gig of his a few years back. The sound was more stripped down than The Moody Blues, which worked really well, especially on "I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band)".

Ace Frehley of Kiss, Frehley's Comet, solo work. Outside of a few songs, I didn't like Kiss. That dislike was confirmed by being in a bowling alley some years ago while some snot nosed brats played "Calling Dr. Love" on the jukebox six times in a row. Still, I enjoyed Frehley's hit cover of Russ Ballard's "New York Groove."

Kiss seemed too ridiculous for me even when I was in my early teens back in the 70's. Can't say I ever had any interest in their solo work, either. Even so, they certainly made their mark in the world of rock music.
