Not to speak for her, but she's clearly touchy on certain subjects and you don't come across as interested in her for the sake of understanding her as a person, but rather as a scientific curiosity to be discarded once your interest has been satisfied.

It's not that you ask me questions it's your motive behind them. You want to dissect me. I can tell by your wording and phrasing and that you really don't have a particular question. I am used to being treated as a curiosity as an ex cult member. And I usually answer these questions graciously because I understand it's a rarity to find one that isn't on the History Channel or written a tell all book that is open to talking. The ****ing grievous reality of it is brother, you are never out of one. Never. No matter how much you think you are etc. You know little to **** all about the infrastructure behind a cult how it is set up ect. And there are certain things that I have kept inside myself for 13 + years that not even someone ****ing me on the regular knows. That's because it's my private hell. And it should be treated with reverence and respect, not to be ogled like a two headed pig in a jar. If your conversational skills had a quid pro quo like quality attached to them you and I could engage in a dialogue rather then me feeling like I am being interrogated you would find my discomfort with you might ease. If this explanation was to long winded for you think of it this way... It's like you are demanding a reach around and not buying me dinner first. A touch of class bro a touch of class.

Without being too specific about somebody else's personal life…

I know exactly what you mean. A person very close to me was involved with a cult about ten years ago. I can't go into more detail here.

that could very well be accurate. if i am being perfectly honest, i think my main issue is that i don't necessarily understand the difference between the two.

don't really get what you mean by "to be discarded" though. but i can understand how i might come across as cold. i am trying to work on that. don't seem to be making much progress though
