I have been meeting this woman for a month now. We met on the weekends and had a pretty great time together. But while on the surface everything was really nice and we had a good time and I did have feelings for her on a certain level, I still had lingering doubts about us and after thinking about this I decided today that we do not have the potential for a really deep emotional connection and since we are both looking for a serious long-term relationship I said that this just isn’t working.
I really hated hurting her with this but I thought that the sooner I tell her this the better. She says that I am an ******* and if I really did have these doubts I would have told her earlier and wouldn’t have behaved as everything is great just this weekend. But I wanted to first be really sure about how I felt before talking about this and also this is not really something you can solve by talking. You either connect that well or you don’t. And I faked none of my behavior, I genuinely enjoyed being around her up until the end.
She is also pissed off because I did it over the phone. I also would have preferred to do it in person, but first of all I wanted to tell her as quickly as possible and secondly, she is really busy and it would have felt even more wrong for me if she had to take time out of her busy schedule just for me to arrive and tell her that it’s over.
I told her all that but she still says that I’m a lying piece of ****. I understand that she is very unhappy and disappointed, I remember being on the receiving end of something like this. We were also explicitly not in a relationship and in the phase of getting to know each other and seeing whether a relationship would work. I think that while my behavior wasn't perfect I don’t think that I did something outright wrong. What do y’all think?
