My weirdness borders on Asperger's syndrome. The main difference is that most people don't know about the depths of my weirdness.

For instance, I prefer cats over people (which is pretty normal, but it gets weird) but it's extreme to the extent where I have irritated many parents of human babies with the "wanna see my baby" trick (and I show them a picture of my cat). I just don't like children, and people make me really uncomfortable most of the time.

I have a handful of seriously irrational phobias (sleeping in a hoodie could lead to unintentional strangulation, driving a small car = I would not survive a collision with something larger, strange cars parked on the side of otherwise desolate roads = everyone's gonna see my missing ass on CNN tomorrow, etc.) and I'm in a constant state of mild to severe anxiety.

(Which, by some people's standards, is pretty normal, but it's rather disruptive, so I assume that's what normal people would call abnormal.)

I love kitsch. Owls, Smurfs, Gumby, Mary Blair, whatever's weird and funky. Chances are, I want to steal your grandma's house.

My records are my babies, and I will seriously lose my shit if people around me don't know how to handle them.

I'm weird.

That is me, too. I have to drive about 20 miles on the interstate to work and then from work five days a week, and that involves a hell of a lot of semi truck. I've got some weird paranoia that if they're passing me in the left lane, they're going to suck me under the truck and kill me. It doesn't help that they always have a slight draft that pulls me towards the truck. I always think, "Oh, hell, this is it..." anytime that happens.

Ugh, I know. Driving is terrifying. I avoid freeways whenever possible.

I absolutely love driving. For some strange reason it's a great time for me to clear my mind and sort out problems or think about stuff. I used to be terrified of the highway, but not anymore - it's great. The gridlock here is bad at times though.

My mother, on the other hand, is one of those people who is terrified of making left hand turns at intersections, even if there is an advanced green light. She won't do it and I'm certain that she hasn't made a left turn in years. She will actually plan out a route that involves turning right only, even if it means she has to loop around or backtrack to get there. I was late for an audition once because she refused to make a left turn. Now THAT is ridiculously weird.

I can't drive well, and don't enjoy it for that reason. I would rather someone else drive me. Maybe if I get rich some day, I will hire a limousine driver.

It takes practice. Don't let *******s intimidate you and don't let trucks and buses freak you out.

**** yes. I haven't owned a car in years and I have no interest in getting a new one. I've driven off the road, driven on the wrong side of the street (seriously if the terrified person in the car with me hadn't said something I may very well have driven into oncoming traffic), and god only knows how many times I barely escaped death while turning or merging without even knowing about it. I have terrible situational awareness and awful reflexes. If I drive a car it's only a matter of time before I get into a wreck. I know that my driving would get better with experience, but I'm good not developing that particular skill. I'd rather just ride the bus.

Well, the thing is, I'm an excellent, gentle driver who abides by every traffic rule. (Mainly because I don't want to die in a car. Anywhere, anytime, anything - just not in a car.) It's everyone else that terrifies me. I've never been pulled over, I don't speed, I don't weave through traffic, I don't make any rough turns or stops, etc. But I've been cut off by so many morons, and I've watched so much terrible behavior from other motorists that I just don't like driving all that much.
