If I really cant have a pocket knife then I at least always have a Swiss Army Knife on my keychain that has tweezers toothpic file and small knife. I use it soooo much.
Yeah man could be. Just checked - Illegal to carry a knife in public without good reason - unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife. Lock knives (knives with blades that can be locked when unfolded) are not folding knives, and are illegal to carry in public.

I've been stop searched with a blade about an inch long on a key ring before though and the police were a bit awkward about it. You would probably still get a bit of hassle if you carried a Swiss army knife though.

To answer your q I don't collect knives though.

I use them fishing primarily and sometimes for cutting things when I work on cars and houses. I love the spyderco's but theyre ridiculously priced.
I love spydies but I agree they are way to much money for what they are. I cheaped out and bought a Made in China Spydie Tenacious. It isnt bed but the screws were so cheap they all stripped and now I cant take it apart.

They paramilitary and such are amazing but not worth like 80-150 bucks for a folder.]

I thought though if you could relate it to your job you are fine. Like you could work at a supermarket and say you needed it for work. Maybe they dont care? It amazes me the people let the government take the right to carry knives. I mean who the **** who is going to commit a crime with a knife is deterred because of that stupid law.

Thats always been my issue with buying cheap. I know the screws are gonna strip after a bit of use and the blade life even when sharpened properly will not outlast a spyderco. I'd be inclined to buy the under 100 dollar spyderco's but yes approaching 150 bucks is just insane. That being said i'd love to own a paramilitary 2 series but 185 is a bit steep for a knife.

You can do that, if you have a good reason you'll be OK. If the average Joe got stopped tomorrow with a knife in their pocket they'd be fhucked though. I can't remember the punishment for it but they do come down harsh on carrying a knife in a public place. Same with any sort of weapon in your car for self defense like a baseball bat. Best option is a Maglite.

I think it's a good thing regarding knives.

Even in your house, if you keep a bat or hammer by your bed, someone breaks in and you attack them with it, you need to prove the weapon wasn't there for the purpose of attacking an intruder, so if you had the hammer on a table next to some nails and a frame you could just say you were planning on putting a photo frame up. If you run through the kitchen and grab a knife from the draw, you're fine. If you keep one by your bed, you're not.

Out of interest mate do you have the same opinion regarding guns (thread is going off topic lul.)

Stripping the screws is the reason I carry that Buck 110 or a small fixed blade. It must be just me, but I alays run into mis-sized hex/star bolts strip them and then cant adjust or clean knife.

On that spydie tenacious I had I swear I tried every bit and none of them fit the god damned thing.

I feel your pain and have the same issues. I literally hit Sears every other month in search of a new set of hex/stars for either knives or furniture accessories. I think the chinese/japanese build oddball sizes and just sit there and laugh about it over their dim sum/sushi dinners.

I currently have only these four in my possession:

The first 3 are top quality - I think that Spyderco's durability and craftsmanship will beat any chinese knock off in the long run.

The butterfly is a cheap off brand (Jaguar) but still fun.

How long has it been like that?

I think having a bat or whatever you want with the intention of hurting/killing in intruder is more than ok. What you do in your own house should be your decision especially when it comes to protecting your family. Guns Knives whatever should be allowed.

When it comes to bringing them around conceled it is a whole new ballgame and I would like to say yes, people who pass a certain level of background check should be able to carry whatever they want..BUT...we do not have the best system for it in America yet. I mean their are 2 sides to the argument and I understand both.

1st side: Being a gun owner I guess I side more with this...but it does have its flaws. A law abiding citizen should be able to carry what he sees fit to protect himself or loved ones friends wherever he pleases. Not to mention any laws prohibiting people from doing so is not going to stop the criminals and illegal carries from happening. All it will do is disarm the law abiding public that could stop such a thing.

2nd side: While most of the people putting themselves on this side of things seem to not know the statistics of gun crimes very well, or have an agenda they DO have a few very important points. First off more people with legal guns gives more people without access to them. Secondly our background check is hardly thorough. If you have not been convicted of a felony or visibly insane you can get a handgun in 15 minutes. Hell you can just legally buy a shotgun off a friend without any paperwork.

I guess in my opinion (one shared by a minority, not even my own family) I would rather deal with the higher chance of violence with the trade off being I am able to protect myself and my family. Things they should do...
-make people take a test for a carry license (aim/gun knowladge/etc)
-improve background checks
-stop misinforming the general public about guns in general
