I hear ya. I used to know someone that did really obscure references to things in his music. I forgot his name though.

MD

Eureka! I remembered!

Plankton 12-27-2017 12:05 PM

...your coworker asks you how to spell "Pixels", and you respond with "Gee Oh Oh Gee El Ee", and they start typing it, then mid-word it hits them.

Frownland 12-27-2017 12:16 PM

TFW you always use payed instead of paid and it's your biggest character flaw.

I don't add a space before an ellipsis because I think it looks ****ty. We all have our crosses to bear.

Frownland 12-27-2017 12:31 PM

That's more forgivable because that changes depending on the formatting style that you're following.

Frownland 12-27-2017 03:31 PM

TFW you write an article about the new tax code and publish it on several different sites five minutes before the IRS makes an announcement that changes the whole writeup :bonkhead:. **** the IRS but not for the usual reasons today.

Doubt anyone here will be affected, but if you're interested, don't race to pay your property taxes before the end of the year to try to get more to deduct unless you already have your tax bill from the county collector. If you're going off of an estimate then you'll have to stick to the 2018 cap.

Lucem Ferre 01-06-2018 02:19 AM

The feeling when you get a PM from a newer member thanking you for something that you literally got harassed by a mod for doing because it would 'scare away new members' in the most ironic twist of all.

So **** you, Plankton. The song this guy was looking for just happened to be Love Lockdown by Kanye West. I deserve a god damned apology for being treated like absolute dirt by you when I'm more like mud.

grindy 01-06-2018 02:34 AM

I would say nothing that implies that he is anything other than authentic and courageous. I wouldn't call him a fraudulent coward, nor a duplicitous poltroon, nor a fake pussy. I would say I see a hard working mod that never gets the respect that he deserves and it's about time he does. And I don't think he even needs the krabby patty formula to run a successful business.

Plankton 01-06-2018 08:09 AM

Funny, you say I'm a hard working mod when I haven't done anything mod-related for over a year now. Not that you would know that though. I asked to be unmod'ed a long time ago, but they have me on lockdown. I only took on being a mod because I wanted see the inner workings of what goes on when one becomes one. It was purely just curiosity, not because I wanted to play the part of being mediator to all the drama around here. I hate being that guy. I am not mod material, but I try to maintain a level of respect for the position. Being a mod, while having a musical presence and, at the same time, having to ban people trying to get their music noticed goes completely against the grain of what I'm about. It's been a struggle.

*looks wistfully away*

I wonder if JWB can still see the bitch in me.

rubber soul 01-06-2018 08:19 AM

It's funny you say that, Plank, because that was my logic when I became a mod at my Writing Forum. I guess I've always have been a curious person. Weirdly, though, I did end up becoming a mediator of sorts over there. Yeah, it does suck having to ban or discipline people sometimes, but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.

Plankton 01-06-2018 08:25 AM

I just don't care enough about other peoples drama on the internet to feel like I need to intervene. I get plenty of that irl.

Chiomara 01-16-2018 03:52 PM

Tfw you find a Lord Byron article/book you haven't seen before:

Quote:

... The heart of Percy Bysshe Shelley was famously plucked from the flames of his funeral pyre on a beach near Viareggio and squabbled over by Leigh Hunt and Edward Trelawny, the former wishing to preserve it in a jar of wine, and the latter wanting to present it to Shelley’s widow, Mary, who eventually kept it in a drawer of her writing table. Lord Byron had wanted to keep Shelley’s skull, but Trelawny, “remembering he had previously used one as a drinking cup,” only preserved a fragment of it, which is now in the possession of the Pforzheimer Collection of the New York Public Library. It looks exactly like a piece of dried leaf.
If you aren't going to preserve my heart in a jar of wine after I die, then don't even talk to me.

Have you read a lot of books Chiomara?

and im sorry for referring to you as "Chio".

I suppose so-- as many as my crippling lifelong ADHD will allow, anyway.

And "Chio" is fine, don't worry about it.

I have no idea; it's just a name I liked and chose at random when I first registered here. So, it's up to you! (I actually like the Spanish version best, Xiomara, which is pronounced "see oh MAR ah")

Absolutely not (although, granted, Cheeto isn't that much worse than the nicknames I've been given by overly chatty strangers on greyhound buses.)

At least her other tats are tasteful. I can't decide which I like more, the skull with roses on her shoulder or little devil she got behind her ear.
