Thanks for the insights to all those that posted an opinion.
I talked to my son this morning and he's determined to do this despite any teasing that comes his way.
I told him that so long as he expects flak and so long as he sticks up for himself I'll wish him luck.
I'd rather he followed his own interests and made his own decisions than be swayed by the opinions of others.
I'm hoping this is a pivotal moment in his life that will stand him in good stead for the future.
I actually feel quite bad just thinking about even considering trying to talk him out of it. :o:
The lad has earned my respect and the experience has left me feeling pretty humble.

That's unbelievable.
The focus and determination he has is something I wish I could have.
Wonderful.

You've got yourself a good kid, man. Congrats! And it speaks volumes about the both of you. Kid has stones to go through with it no matter what... I, for one, have got his back :bringit:

@RT
I think he already knows about the future bullying. Maybe he doesn't know how strong it might affect him, but I guess if he doesn't already care what others think of him, he won't care about what they'll think of him in the future. As all the users have already said, that kid has serious stones, wish him good luck from my part.

I wouldnt feel bad about considering trying to talk him out of it. I mean, its not like you were ever gonna force him to change his mind and i think it was a valid concern. He sounds like a pretty strong kid though to understand it may lead to teasing and decide to do it anyway. I think it's great that he's doing what he wants to do and if he's strong enough to go through with it knowing that then i'm sure he'll be strong enough to handle any of that, if any comes his way at at all. Fair play to the lad really!

Today was my first day of (semi) unemployment. Took a trip into the employment office to see what was on offer. Found a few web development, software development and software testing positions which i applied for so hopefully i'll get some response or i'll start to go nuts. The place i work for can only afford to give me weekend work which just isn't good enough but i'll have to make do with it for the time being.

They were only $99 and they came in just two days. Currently enjoying them now.

So my little nephew is nearly 2 and he can say a few words, but he also knows a lot of hand signals to let people know what he wants. Usually when he comes around to visit I'm usually upstairs so the hand signal he gives for me is to point upwards.

Anyway my mother looks after him in the mornings while his mum & dad are at work and this morning she takes him shopping.
He picks up this bar of chocolate and refuses to give it to my mother. so my mother says 'is that for you?'
He shakes his head & says no
Is it for nanny
no
Is it for mummy
no
Is it for daddy
no
who's it for?
he starts pointing up in the air
Is it for Uncle Richard?
He starts laughing and gives it to her

My nephew is awesome :D
