If what you said was derived out of empathy, you wouldn't have leapt to an accusation of bigotry after reading a normal question like what I asked. What you are doing is what a feminist would call "mansplaining". You aren't a Native American in 2020 America. How would you know what they are thinking and feeling at this particular point in time? Nobody here is advocating for Native American genocide.

I also think it was inevitable, though the specifics would have changed depending on what country made the most inroads. There is also a branch of history somewhere out there in the great macroverse where the Aztecs simply continued expanding their empire north and west, eventually enslaving and/or wiping out all of the other tribes in the continental U.S. within a century or so. If the conquistadors, Vikings, some African country, whatever had come to the New World at that point, there would have been one hell of a war.

But what i do believe is that the majority of people in North America died off by diseases which their immune systems couldn't handle. Which was largely a sort of convenient coincidence for the settlers, not an intentional campaign of biological warfare.

The actual raping and pillaging and atrocities that occurred was obviously not justified. But what prompted my initial comments was OH's over dramatic rendition of history that America is unredeemable while Germany isn't cause the US was built on genocide etc. The Holocaust was far worse and more recent than anything the US ever did.

I think an example I can use where it's justifiable is a parent being proud of their children if the parent contributed in a meaningful way to their success, but for the most part the word is overused to the point of meaninglessness, and it's often not even appropriate. It's just something people latch on to to feel good about themselves.

I'm not proud of my friends success.. I'm happy for them, they can be proud.
