Imagine, the guy was irl was much smaller than Peter Dinkalage and had normal sized organs. Plus he looked permanently like he was five at the very most. Must have been quite painful to be him, both physically and mentallly. But he was making around 35000 USD a week during the 70s / 80s when he was playing Tattoo so he offset it with partying. Been having really poor luck with the movies I've been choosing to watch lately:
Battle of the Sexes Sometimes likeable and entertaining performances. Interesting and fun story in the beginning and the final stretch of the movie. The center entire ****ing hour of the movie is occupied by the most banal, Hollywoodified, oscar baiting, lesbian love triangle you've ever seen. Completely brings the movie to a dead stop for unbearably long stretches of time, where the script writer loses all interest in the actually involving ideas that the movie starts out with and NAMED ITSELF AFTER. So endlessly frustrating. I kinda really liked parts of it but also kinda really hated it. Romance and Cigarettes A sort of pseudo-musical directed by actor John Torturro. Big stars everywhere. Totally misguided and incredibly irritating scripts. I fast-forwarded a lot. Watching this movie in full would give anyone a migraine. I don't say this often, but I think I actually found this film to be in downright bad taste. If you like this movie, I hate you. Ok not really, but damn. This movie was so annoying it makes me irrational. Terms of Enderment Syrupy, repetitive and with some of the oddest, most ineffective character writing I've seen in years. Absolutely nothing to grab on to here. Half the time, I couldn't even figure out who the hell thought this script makes any sense. Jack Nicholson shows up here and there, hamming things up even further, and it's the only fun parts of the movie. And before you consider the idea that maybe I don't get it, I'll stop you right there and promise you that this movie is dumber than a bag of hammers. Winner of the Oscar for best picture in 1983. I'll say it again: Most best picture winners are either overrated or downright bad movies. What the hell is up with that? |

Rewatched Blade Runner 2049.
Miles above the first movie on every level. The "sex scene" alone is just so much more memorable, creative, and visually stunning than anything in the first. It's sort of heartwarming and beautiful, while also being the most depressing thing ever. Gorgeous visuals, fantastic music, awesome action, more interesting themes that are more fully realized, great quotes ("I'm the best one!" being my favorite). Just, everything. I really do think that in time, once people grow out of their nostalgia for the first, 2049 will be rightly regarded as one of the best Sci-Fi flicks of all time (unless some seriously fantastic SF movies get made in the interval, which would be awesome). But even if not, I'll still love it and rep it. I'll always remember it as the movie that inspired me to get off my ass and take writing seriously. A novel and a bajillion short stories later, and I'm still riding that high. Guess the nostalgia is strong with me as well, even though it only came out last year.  Also... Spoiler for .:

I think they're both great, too. I'm down to watch the first with anyone, anytime.
I just wanted to express how much I love the second one.

But several pretty ok parts on the way there. The characters were mostly surprisingly okay in a popcorn movie kinda way. I even quite liked Kristen Wiig's character since she was the most (nearly only) relatable character in the movie. Chris Hemsworth was legit funny sometimes as their massively stupid secretary. Some of the worst moments included dumb, forced cameos and toilet humor. And at least one unfunny dance scene. No idea what I'd wanna rate this cluster****, but it wasn't horrible. I was mostly entertained on some basic level. So uh, not a glowing recommendation. Just watch the original one. |
