My new PC perfectly emulates Gamecube, PS2 games and the like without having to resort to speed hacks and the like ..

I love it :D

My main concern is the mention of online only play. CitiesXL tried this a while back and it didn't work out that well - and they are the next best thing to SimCity. Also finite resources per map will add an interesting twist to long term city development.

yes well, that's what I meant. Isn't it always the publisher who draws up the developer's contract and decides how hard the players are going to be nickel and dimed?

And by "online only" play, I assume you mean you will have to be connected to Origin and the internet to play?

Oh God, I REALLY hope I get enough birthday money this week to be able to buy Mass Effect 3. I've followed the series from day one and loved every moment (and not just because Krogan are hot).

To a certain extent it's true the publisher holds all the cards but in a case like this one where SimCity is a very well recognized and established franchise and Maxis has a very direct relationship with the franchise reputation it's a lot more likely that they'll have more freedoms. The contracts themselves don't always specify how the customer will be nickel and dimed but some of the specifications and requirements may well result in less popular choices being forced into the final product.

As for the online only thing, that's EXACTLY what I fear :banghead:

What kind off controller do you use? I'd imagine it would be hard finding one that fits GC titles since that controller was so awkward.

An xbox 360 usb controller would work fine.

Phantom Limb's right on the money .. I use my xbox controller. It's a tiny bit tricky to set up, but using it is intuitive.
