Lol, I had to show my parents the Wikipedia article to prove it was a fiction.

Jurry Duty was too slow for me but I genuinely cracked up at In the Army Now. However, in both those films we're shown more of Pauly's body than I think anyone cares to see.

I actually thought The Mist was pretty good to be honest.

I thought The Mist was excellent all with the sick, twisted ending. Hey, Janszoon, we actually agree on some films.

Yay!

djchameleon 01-14-2011 06:18 AM

Yeah I have to agree with the love for The Mist. I have watched that movie more times than I can count. Every time I see it on one of the movie channels I will stop and watch it.

blank 01-14-2011 06:38 AM

I'm sure we can all at least agree that The Hillz needs to be uncreated. You know, the one with Paris Hilton. Acting. Paris Hilton. Acting. Trying to act. Failing to do so in a big way. Actually feeling a little annoyed right now remembering it.

djchameleon 01-14-2011 06:57 AM

idk I didn't see that one but Paris has had a couple of movies so when you say the one with Paris Hilton I didn't think of that one

I thought of this other movie she had something with an ugly looking best friend no idea the name of it and don't care really lol...Not watching it anytime soon.

This has been on HBO lately so I watched it the other night. It's supposed to be a prequel to Cruel Intentions I think... Best and worst ending to a movie ever. Makes no sense whatsoever in terms of plot, but two girls end up making out so it's not so bad. This movie never ties in so many aspects of the movie, it's just bad.

Edit: Wikipedia says this was supposed to be a spin off TV series but Fox had objections to some obscenity, so they took the first 3 episodes, added a nude-shower-make out scene, and called it a prequel. So the lack of plot kinda makes sense now.

The Mist was good...not great IMO. However, it was much better than the novella, particularly the ending, which was perfectly twisted in the film and disappointingly flat in the book.

Speak for yourself.

Someone hated The Mist? I think it might have had my favourite ending in a movie.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 01-24-2011 09:08 PM

I'd like to point out from a plot/storytelling point of view, I think Avatar is one of the worst films of all time. Albeit, it's gorgeous from a technical point of view.

I watched Mean Girls when it was on with my sisters, but refused to watch Mean Girls 2 after it. I couldn't do it. It looked horrible.

I really like Mean Girls, though.

Avatar hits so many cliches and obvious tropes that rewatching it now on my bluray player at home is a real chore. Just like all of Camerons work, it's unoriginal and bland - but visually it dazzles.

I must admit to being mesmerized by the film after first seeing it. Buy watching it a few more times, I can see just how bland it is when the aesthetic is looks past.

djchameleon 01-25-2011 01:07 AM

wtf Mean Girls 2 came out? When? and why haven't I seen it yet.

Howard the Duck 01-25-2011 02:05 AM

Probably a Japanese film called Organ

supposed to be cyberpunk but looks like a rejected Swamp Thing story by DC Comics - boring, incomprehensible, no horror at all, not even unintentionally funny

With the exception of Aliens, and Terminator 1/2, pretty much. I mean, not in terms of originality, but definitely not bland films.

I liked these and The Abyss and True Lies too. To call all of Cameron's work bland and unoriginal .. well, I don't agree!

djchameleon 01-25-2011 02:54 AM

was The Abyss any good? I never watched it but I hear people talk about it from time to time.

you have to watch the 3-hour version to get the length and breadth of it

some very good ideas and the aliens look superb

djchameleon 01-25-2011 07:43 AM

okay so there is like a director's cut that is longer, I will look for it.

Good enough to keep me interested from start to finish, even though it's lengthy, so I'd say yeah :) It has lots of mystery and suspense and, as you'd expect from a Cameron film, the sets and underwater environments and stuff look good and are surprisingly realistic.

bob. 01-25-2011 08:54 AM

i actually really like The Abyss...although like many of Cameron's films (with the exception of Aliens)....it tends to put me to sleep on frequent views....but the acting was good, the story very interesting, and as always the effects ahead of their time....i think i've pretty much enjoyed all of his films....although for the most part they are all watch once type of flicks....they could have shaved an hour out of Titanic and still have expressed his social points....i enjoyed Avatar upon the first viewing....but do not in any way understand all the hype about it...True Lies was fun as were both the Terminator films

someonecompletelyrandom 01-25-2011 11:28 AM

I did forget about Alien and The Abyss. Two good pieces of work right there.

bob. 01-25-2011 11:34 AM

Aliens....Ridley Scott did the first Alien....which are such different types of film....both are great in my opinion just very different

someonecompletelyrandom 01-25-2011 11:37 AM

Right, forgot the S on that one.

The storyline itself may have been lifted from Ferngully, but the story wasn't the point. The floating jellyfish things looking like they were about to fly up your nose was the point. And they ****ing ruled.

bob. 01-25-2011 12:51 PM

exactly....

Violent & Funky 01-25-2011 12:52 PM

I didn't know Mean Girls 2 existed either. But I also love Mean Girls...

James 01-25-2011 12:55 PM

Mean Girls may be in my top 10 of all time.

Personally I think The Abyss is the best Cameron film. Well, actually it's between that one and the first Terminator. They are very different, so I can't choose.

You must watch it! It's on my top 10 list of favorite movies.

jackhammer 01-25-2011 06:28 PM

What twonk put The Mist in this thread? Some of the CGI is not very good at all but that film is such a builder and that ending is devastating.

TockTockTock 01-25-2011 06:29 PM

Skinned Deep is the worst movie I've ever seen, and I am even embarrassed for seeing it. It's supposed to be a spoof, but... I think it was just so crappy that they decided to label it as one.

TockTockTock 01-25-2011 06:50 PM

Are you guys talking about Skinned Deep?

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 01-25-2011 07:43 PM

Is the porn of it 'going skinned deep'?
