Still have yet to play Axis and Allies. It seems like it would be something I would enjoy considering I love history, but I've had so many bad RISK experiences that I think it may have made me prejudice against warfare strategy games.

Hahaha sounds like me, years ago I used to have a great board game of the Axis invasion of Soviet Russia in WWII. It was a huge map of Russia that covered loads of geographical terrain (cities, roads, rivers, forests and mountains etc) the rules also built in the Russian winter as well. The game pieces were great as well and arranged as divisions both infantry and tank. I could never find anybody to play with, so just used to end up playing by myself operating both sides. I know that sounds weird as you know what the other side is going to do, but I used to love it and found it great fun. One time I played the whole campaign and it lasted several months, as i played a bit now and again.

Sounds epic. It's easy to play both sides for me, since I have all the concetration and planning of an autistic gerbil, so I constantly launch surprise attacks on myself that I am legitimatley surprised be.

You sound like me, its disturbing.

Next you'll be telling me things like you play guitar with a squash racket whilst listening to power metal, errrrrrrr but then again you probably don't do anything as daft as that.

If we can include card games, then Magic: The Gathering is actually my favourite. Some of the Munchkin games are also quite fun - and typically a messy affair with vague rules and lots of backstabbing, etc.

Axis and Allies I've only played once (even though I own it) and I thought that there were two many things (units) to keep track of on the board.

Used to play D&D back in the 80's, and had built up a decent character. I still have the folder with all the drawings, info, and game logs, etc.

Now days it's more of a Drunken Yahtzee Natzi thing...

...and Chess is always good.

Sure, I play Monopoly once in a while. Last time I played it, I got my ass handed to me.

It's more "luck of the dice" which I don't ever seem to have enough of.
