Maybe skimming is the problem. I'm pretty sure I've talked plenty about games that are badass.

Love those games, especially Final Doom.

I've played Doom a million times over the years, along with a few of the best 90's shooters like Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Rise of the Triad and Descent.

Shadow Warrior's great, though I've only played through the first few levels.

I still need to try out Rise of the Triad at some point, I've heard that a lot of the stuff from that game was originally pitched for Doom.

It's a really fun game, but also an odd one. It's got a very arcadey vibe going on with point collection, extra lives and power ups, but also some other weird little mechanics, some of which you rarely see across those 40+ levels.

You can be shot with a net and cut yourself free with a knife. You can find a gas mask to protect you from toxic gas traps. There's some humorous "power-downs". Plus floating platforms and other little things other shooters didn't have. Lots of traps and environmental hazards. Way more than in other shooters. It's one of the thing that makes the game fun. The game feels like the developers just crammed in everything they could think of while having fun making the game. I love how it sometimes makes elevator trips longer and trolls you by playing muzak

Somewhere in a journal of mine, there's a huge list.

But some of my "desert island" picks would be

Armored Core 4 and 5
Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution
Rise of the Triad
Final Doom
Azure Dreams
System Shock
G-Darius
Realms of Arkania 3
Dungeon Master 2
Akai Katana
Samurai Aces
GunBird
Cleopatra Fortune
King of Fighters 2000, 2001, 2002, NeoWave and XIII
Capcom vs SNK 2
Dragon's Dogma
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Dynasty Warriors 4 and 5
Samurai Warriors 1 and 2
Bishi Bashi Special
Wario Ware 1
Shinobido
Tenchu 2 and Fatal Shadows
Soulcalibur 2 and 5
Makai Kingdom

I've talked about several of these before to at least some extent.

Thanks for the input. Also lol @ Frown. Don't be mad. You'll come up with an idea sometime.
