I actually bothered to tune in on FoxNews' coverage of the memorial service and now I feel guilty about it, is there anybody better at speaking ill of the dead than FoxNews?

All Hannity did was make remarks like "Now on to something that's actually important", talked about how it's stupid that Jackson's death is still getting coverage instead of Iran and Afghanistan, while proceeding to cover Jackson's death instead of Iran and Afghanistan, having his team of happy negroes (Larry Elder included) talk sh*t about Michael and how Sammy Davies Jr was the greatest performer ever, and Sean kept digging out all the scandals, and how "You can't seperate the man from the music"

What a f*cking idiot, I recall Hannity playing to a different tune when his favorite hatemonger Jerry Falwell passed, and attacked all of his critics for "speaking ill of the dead". And yet here he is essentially saying. "Jackson was a child mollestor, he wasn't a real loss, this is not news, now let's talk about someone who really makes a difference. Sarah Palin!!!"

I'll be so happy when Hannity's inevitable sex scandal finally emerges.

If your recollection of his reaction to Falwells death is accurate the hypocrisy is unbelievable.

But to be frank, I think the coverage is way out of line and totally misses the point. The world is a better place with him dead? proabably not, but we're not missing anything either. He hasn't been relevant in 15 years for good reason, there is nothing left.

Also his music is not that good (in comparrison to how we're suddenly remembering it), the hits hold up well mostly, but a lot of stuff sounds very dated and tacky. He was not a great vocalist as an adult, but had a signature sound. He was not a great songwriter, but an adequate one and better then most give him credit. It was all down hill, though slightly at first, after "Off the Wall". He lost it, years of being beaten and possibly sexually abused and watching his sibling's deal with the same things was finally too much.

Sean Hannity is an asshole but that doesn't mean Jack-o was not a sick freak created by an abusive sociopath of a father.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

So when someone passes away who had their mark on popular culture, it's somehow irrelevant because that person wasn't doing it RIGHT before he died?

Is Charlie Chaplin irrelevant just because he's long dead? Are The Rolling Stones irrelevant even though their new music sucks? Of course not.

I'm staring at your album cover.

He wrote a lot of his best songs, granted he had a lot of greats thanks to Temperton and other collaborators was well, you can't say he wasn't a talented songwriter, maybe he wasn't a songwriting genius on his own, but when he collaborated with Quincy Jones and others, the resulting product was more often than not, a work of pop music genius.

Correction, that album came before Thriller and Bad.

He wrote a lot of his best songs himself, maybe not a songwriting genius, but you can't say he wasn't a talented songwriter.

Sigh.

Charlie Chaplin is irrelevant

It's not news because there are more important interesting things to talk about pertaining to Michael Jackson.

Why sigh at that last bit, it's the real story in his death, not his music.

And I think Off the Wall is much better then Bad and Thriller, but they are very good pop albums as well. I gave him his due as a songwriter, saying he's better then most give him credit for being and as for VU being dated, Whatever suck it.

Of course he is, he was only the first movie star ever and helped turn cinema into the huge industry it is today.

Well you can't fault Michael for what the media does, and it's not like the media was covering all these important stories BEFORE Jackson's death. People been whining about the 11 soldiers killed in Afghanistan not getting covered. Come the f*ck on, that wouldn't have gotten any coverage one way or the other.

I just hate when people call him Jacko, it's not quite Kurt Cocaine level on the annoying nicknames scale, but it's close enough.

Hey, you came here on a thread dedicated to Michael Jackson just a week and half after his death and in the presence of a Jackson fanboy and the most notoriously defensive and easly worked up member of the forum. You kinda asked for it.

I agree with this, and would say he hasn't been original in 25 years. the last 10 years he's been trying to rip off himself.

You don't like Bad and Dangerous, I get it already.

To say he is irrelevant is not to say he is insignificant. He is historically relevant but he'll never be the top story of Hannity and Comb-overs.

I was blaming the media, not Jackson.

Sorry, i use it to refer to the messed up side of him, I still have a slightly soft spot for his music.
