I sincerely hope that no one will ever pick (or has picked) Cut The Crap. I don't think I could ever listen to that. I would probably cry.

Sandinista! is probably my favourite Clash album and I think it's probably their strongest if you can deal with (or skip) the dubs and the annoying "i-want-a-triple-album-so-we're-making-a-triple-album" songs (Shepherd's Delight, obvzly) Thanks Mick!

TumorAttitude 08-17-2009 08:14 PM

I can't stress how underrated Combat Rock is! The singles from London Calling are better, but as a whole Combat Rock is far superior.

franzfergidon 08-17-2009 08:20 PM

I don't like a lot of the songs on Combat Rock. Some of them could've been substituted with the Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg versions or... stuff like Kill Time and The Beautiful People Are Ugly Too...

Rickenbacker 08-17-2009 08:24 PM

The one with Allen Ginsberg makes up for any mistakes on the album. But Sandinista! is the best, and that's the way it is.

TumorAttitude 08-17-2009 08:25 PM

Is that so? I'll have to give it another listen, I suppose....

Ghetto Defendant.
Allen Ginsberg's contributions are pretty hilarious though.

Rickenbacker 08-17-2009 08:36 PM

It's a great one.

edit: Hey tumor, maybe you'd have more credibility if you could spell Genocide right. ;)

music_phantom13 08-27-2009 06:08 PM

Umm... who voted for Cut the Crap? Have you ever listened to the clash? Anyways, London Calling hands down. While I really enjoy their debut as a punk album, but I love the diversity of London Calling. They covered quite a few genres on there, and did all of them expertly with some nice punk infused classic Clash sound. One of my favorite albums of all time.

NumberNineDream 08-27-2009 08:01 PM

I just downloaded the discography, but i've only heard the debut album and London calling, so i won't vote now.

but on the two, i prefer London Calling.

Eberger0001 09-03-2009 12:00 PM

To be cliched, London Calling is my choice for best. Combat Rock a close second though.

Unknown Soldier 09-03-2009 01:21 PM

Looking at the poll, its no surprise to see London Calling top and I voted for it as well. Some of my favourite Clash songs though, are on Sandinista and if Sandinista had been chopped down to a double it might well have topped London Calling.

The sad thing about the Clash, is how they finished..........Releasing Cut the Crap!!!

jacklovezhimself 09-03-2009 03:53 PM

I haven't gotten cut the crap...is it even worth it?

It's unintentionally funny. But it only has one decent song in it, really: "This is England".

Don't spend money on it however. Not worth it at all.

I listened to it several years ago and approached it objectively after reading how bad it was, Basically its total crap. I once read that Joe Strummer apologized to the rest of the band (the originals had already left long before) for making such a bad record and involving them in it.

jacklovezhimself 09-03-2009 04:14 PM

At least he apologized.

You`ve heard how bad it is, if I was in your position I would have to hear how bad it is for myself.

In fact I can`t think of any album, of hand, by a group of the calibre of Clash that is as bad as this.

Wasn't Paul Simonon on Cut the Crap?

jacklovezhimself 09-03-2009 06:25 PM

Wow. Now I'm definitely getting it.

I googled it and he did bass on only one song.

Seragon Ripper 09-07-2009 08:07 PM

I was going to say London Calling, but I like it equally as much as Combat Rock which seems to be underrepresented here. So, Combat Rock it is.

Probably because half the songs on the album are a load of crap

Rickenbacker 09-08-2009 09:21 PM

But Straight to Hell is a top song.

DIDIPP 09-19-2009 05:50 PM

London Calling.

Which ones? I'll prove you wrong on all of them.

loveissucide 10-19-2009 04:33 PM

London Calling>Combat Rock(very underrated)>Sandanista>TheClash>Give Em Enough Rope.

JanieJones 10-19-2009 07:13 PM

London Calling is my favorite because of how diverse the songs are. This album really saw them branching out from mainstream punk and reaching new creative levels.

In my opinion some of them are boring.

But I won't go into detail... I don't really have an argument

lars 10-22-2009 04:16 PM

I am not a huge Clash fan, but i really enjoy listening to US album ever once in a while..

Sansa Stark 03-10-2010 12:59 AM

To the 12 of us who picked Sandinista!, I commend you on your top notch taste, chaps.

James 03-21-2010 11:21 AM

Godamnit I wish I could change my vote.

Rocknroll_Animal 06-09-2010 02:21 AM

'London Calling', closely followed by The Clash: UK'. Then I'd probably put 'Super Black Market Clash' and 'Combat Rock', then 'Sandinista'. Never heard 'Cut The Crap' - at the time I was addicted to The Clash, I considered the ousting of Mick a travesty. At any rate, a top group.

James 06-09-2010 01:57 PM

^you forgot Give 'Em Enough Rope.

Rocknroll_Animal 06-09-2010 02:36 PM

****! Well it was very late at night. Well I'd put that after Sandinista. I still love it though, it has some great tracks - Safe European Home, Tommy Gun, Julie's In The Squad, Cheapskates etc

OctaneHugo 06-09-2010 03:41 PM

cut the crap is the best punk album ever

Having heard three others.
