Honestly I'd say that Relapse could have potentially justified horrorcore as a genre. In general it's just rappers having fun being bargain basement Slayer, but on Relapse Eminem is using horrorcore lyrics as a metaphor for his catharsis as a recovering drug addict and the horrible person it made him. If more horrorcore rappers could use violent lyrics as a metaphor for their own feelings about their self-perception rather than just a fun release of testosterone then it might be elevated beyond a two-dimensional outlet for early-twenty somethings either "peaking" to no effect or evolving to something entirely different.
