Guys, just drop it..This is an opinion on who you think had the biggest impact, not what emo is or a nirvana discussion. I'm going with the beatles.

bungalow 02-03-2006 11:57 AM

I believe, Expletive Deleted, that on the very first page of the thread
I warned you not to diss Nirvana, and the reason that I said, was because MIsfits and boo boo will be all over you.
And look at what happened.....

Trust me, I know from experience
They think they are right....no matter what

Shooting Star 02-03-2006 12:12 PM

It's near impossible to say anyone other than the Beatles had the biggest impact. You could argue which bands have greatly influenced popular music and some bands might even surpass the Beatles in influence over other musicians (I'm thinking like the Velvet Underground for alternative, Black sabbath for metal etc) but the Beatles sold more and created more of a phenomenon than any other band.

And the point is, you can argue for Nirvana all you want. They didn't bring about any great musical revolution, and they weren't the first grunge band like many people try to say. There were a ton of bands doing it before them. And Nirvana wasn't even the best at it. Every kid has their "OmG N1rV@N@ is Th3 roxxors" and I am suprised that boo boo hasn't grown out of it. Kurt Cobain was an average songwriter. If you disagree, post some of his brilliant lyrics. They don't exist. Dave was the only redeming member of Nirvana, and look what he has become. He puts out second rate pop music.

And who has Nirvana influenced?
The disgusting wave of shite alternative bands

George W Bush 02-03-2006 12:14 PM

these bands all like men;) :bonkhead:

Nirvana's had an influence on more than just ****ty watered down alternative rock bands. Like boo boo said Radiohead've cited them as an influence and I know sleater-kinney have been, not to mention the general bunch of garage rock bands of the early 00's. Even if they hadn't been any sort of positive influence music, they made catchy pop music. They never claimed to do otherwise, in an interview Nirvana said that they made songs like children's songs, they're so catchy they'll stay with you forever. Brilliant lyrics are a matter of contention but there must be something for critics to point to the band as having great lyrics. Not to mention Bob Dylan himself upon hearing a Nirvana song said of Cobain that he had heart.

Grohl was in the Foo Fighters, i dont care what you say, but they were good in the 90s, only recently has their music become second rate.

And many bands didnt begin on indie labels, especialy in the 60s and 70s, bands had to be on a corperate label to get any kind of attention, after the punk movement that all changed, but even then indie bands like Sonic Youth and Husker Du got no mainstream attention, but in the 90s alternative and indie rock had become more popular than hair metal, and you know what band was responsable?...Take a guess.

I dont need to post any lyrics, you are being a biased jackass, if you dont think Lithium, Aneurysm or Heart Shaped Box has good lyrics, you suck balls.

what an informed and insightful contribution to the thread. thank you for your input, what WOULD we do without quality posts such as this? So let's hear who you think had more impact than bob dylan, some country singer drawling about how his pick-up truck crashed, his wife left him and his dog died?

bungalow 02-03-2006 10:16 PM

Well hot damn boo boo, you are just full of witty comebacks today."YOu suck balls" and "NOOB".....and I thought that you were better than that.....
Just because I don't think "I'm so happy, cause today I found my friends, they're in my head" is the greatest song ever written doesn't discount my opinion...OH WAIT! I FORGOT, you are an elitist proghead.

Not everyone sucks nirvana's balls like you and your crew of Nirvanaholics.
But, I am not allowed to disagree with boo boo, because, if you do "you suck balls" or, as you said to Expletive "you are a ****ing idiot"

Its good to know that we have insightful people like you around here. You don't know a damn thing about music aside from prog and classic rock. So please, quit being an elitist ***, and shut up

Bungalowbill shutup about people being eltist, because frankly you're not far from one yourself and just like boo boo defends nirvana you attack them so I hardly think thats much of an arguement. As for him only caring about prog and classic rock, thats why hes defending nirvana? Last time I checked they weren't either nor were the ramones or the minutemen.

bungalow 02-03-2006 10:21 PM

Just because he sticks up for them, doesn't mean he knows shite about them

Laces Out Dan! 02-03-2006 10:22 PM

^is this a joke?

sleepy jack 02-03-2006 10:22 PM

This whole arguement is stupid and pointless, its resort to petty attack ands its a matter of opinion, not even factual opinion's just personal prefference.

bungalow 02-03-2006 10:25 PM

Where was it I said that Saosin was real emo?
And again
Where did I say I was the music expert?

But oh, isn't this thread reminicient of past conversations.....
Say something down on Nirvana, and here come MIsfits and boo boo to defend them. Who cares? They were overrated, ****ty guitar, ****ty songwriting, sloppy crap music

Scarlett O'Hara 02-03-2006 10:28 PM

You can have an opinion about something without absolutely making other people feel like you're being unreasonable. You didn't need to say that Nirvana was completely crap. Why not just say you don't like the band and move on?

bungalow 02-03-2006 10:29 PM

Because when I do that, boo boo comes in saying that I am a "****ing idiot", so I respond by saying

"boo boo is an elitist proghead ass"

and that Nirvana is overrated crap

Laces Out Dan! 02-03-2006 10:30 PM

You thinking nirvana is crap has nothing to do with "Who Do You Think Had The Biggest Impact On Music".

Why don't you be the bigger person and not stoop down to his level if it bothers you. Dude he's just another person with an opinion, I'm not saying I agree with the way he put his opinion out there but your spazing reponses fuels his fire.

Yes im a proghead, but elitist proghead?...Now i really feel insulted, after all most elitist progheads dont even like me, im anything but a ELITIST prog fan, i dont look down on anyone on this forum for not sharing my taste for prog, since no one really does, i have never made some stupid thread like "Prog >>>> Punk" or anything like that.

And dont make judgements on something you know little about, you know jack**** about my tastes, i like more alternative rock than i do classic rock, which shows what you know.

I usualy dont talk about it, but i have a serious problem with you, and i will tell you why, you are a biased jerk, everytime you bash Nirvana, you say "i have a right to my opinion"...But whenever someone expresse's a positive opinion about Nirvana, you are the first to get on their ass about it, when you bash people for doing something you do all the time, what do you expect?

You are a hypocrite.

bungalow 02-03-2006 10:39 PM

I don't go off on people for liking Nirvana.....If I did, then the Nirvana/Kurt Cobain thread would be my home.

I think what really goes on is you calling everyone who disagrees that Nirvana is the greatest thing since ribbed condoms, an idiot

If i remember well, and i think i do, you used to post on the Nirvana thread and give people **** all the time.

No, i dont think of Nirvana that way, and there are many bands who i think are greater, even bands i dont like.

Saying Nirvana are not one of the greatest bands ever is one thing, you are calling Kurt Cobain a horrible songwriter, and i dont really give a **** if its your opinion, it could also be your opinion that Jason Newsted is a better bass player than Cliff Lee Burton, when you're wrong, you're wrong.

sleepy jack 02-03-2006 10:46 PM

You jumped into a dead and done arguement over nirvana between boo boo and expletive D and then you made a rather immature comment regarding me and boo boo. Yeah we so jumped on your back. Im stepping out of this one, its matter of opinion and I think if someone reads this thread they'll fine me and boo boo didn't jump on your back before you jumped on ours. Thank you and bye.

And there are more civil ways of showing your dissatisfaction with a band than "Nirvana were a bunch of no talent hacks and their fans are all 10 year old idiots"

How old are you again??...I dont call you any names, but you respond with unprovoked personal attacks towards me...So whos really being the Asshole here?

bungalow 02-03-2006 10:50 PM

I don't believe that that is how I stated it. And boo boo, not only did you tell me (now this replly was genius) "you suck balls" but you called Ex D, a ton of names. You are an elitist prick. You do this every time. I don't like Nirvana, and you say that I am dumb.....this argument could go on forever

Ex D was making a lame arguement, and her logic was off the map..."Oh White Stripes and Radiohead are not indie NOW so that dosent count"

Give me a break.

Theres a lot of posters who i RARELY ever agree with, but i still respect them...This includes Big3, Urban Hatemonger, Vanilla and you guessed it, Misfits...He pokes fun at prog all the time, but you dont see me giving him any lip about it, thats because i respect him, i dont respect you, i just tollerate you, well i used to tollerate you, anyway.
