If you're looking for a good Tool knock-off I'd suggest you checkout the bands Rishloo and Soen.

Try Glasgow Band Suicide Underground :hphones:

Idk if this has been mentioned yet, but Periphery is pretty dank. While their debut album was solid, I'd probably recommend their second album, Periphery II: This Time It's Personal, first.

I'd like to delve into Math Rock and I'm open to suggestions.

I've listened to June of 44 and Mars Volta so far.

Help me find slow dirt tracks like this

Hey dudes, my first post, seeing how active this forum is i hope to see some response ;3

I'm listening to a lot of rock and metal, but somehow can't find any songs that would come close in terms of composition like this one:

/watch?v=mvR2zn9SNkY < copy into YT link

What i'm looking for is something with really sick dark riff, preferably track being slow paced, at least until beginning-middle, with vocals also singing slowish but not lightly. Strong lyrics are also more than welcome.

I know a lot of good rock/metal bands but couldn't come up with anything that would be similiar to this one.

You can hit anything that comes to your mind. ? XDD

I've been looking for some energetic rock/metal songs. I'm specifically looking for something like 9 Electric's songs but not electro.

I want something similar to 9E's 'Time Bomb', 'Destroy As You Go', and 'Crank It Up' - BUT not electro.

I can't post a link to the songs since I'm a new member, but these tracks are on the band's website which is not hard to find (you all know how to use Google :D)

Alice in Chains 07-06-2013 07:00 AM

Anyone who digs Deftones who hasn't heard their tunes "Sex Tape", "Prison Sex", "Passenger", "You've Seen The Butcher", and "Change" is seriously missing out.

Widen my horizons :-).

Hi guys & gals!!

Sorry to bother you, but i'm looking for some new music to listen to.. I'm a fan of stuff like Jimmy Eat World, Twin Atlantic, Biffy Clyro etc, but just looking for more independent artists to listen to!

Any ideas? shoot them and i'll have a listen!

Thanks :-)

Mojo 07-09-2013 03:31 AM

Hello,

I'm hoping you can find what you're looking for, but I have moved your post to this thread, as this seems to be the pre-existing thread you're looking for.

As for your question, do you have any other bands you listen to you would like similar stuff to, or specific genres? I ask cause I can't really get an idea for the kind of stuff you're looking for from those three bands. Others may be able to help though!

Have you tried Green Day, Blink 182, or Yellowcard? Those aren't very independent of bands but they have similar styles in certain songs.

Also, Something Corporate is recommended here as being similar to Jimmy Eat World but I haven't heard of them.
Jimmy Eat World Similar Artists

I'm basing this list on Jimmy Eat World. What about Dashboard Confessional and All Time Low? I second Alice in Chains's suggestion of Something Corporate, they do sound a bit similar to Jimmy Eat World. Taking Back Sunday are a bit different but sound related sometimes.

I don't know if any of those are particularly independent, though. I believe The Morning Light might be and you might like them.

Not independent at all but have you tried The Killers?

I wasn't even thinking of Dashboard Confessional. Nice suggestion there, Blackbird (Nickname. Called it, because your username is the HEX code for black.)

Also, I hate suggesting someone else but The Starting Line and The Spill Canvas are similar to Dashboard. I included my favorite song by both artists.

I'm looking for more psychedelic rock to listen to, preferably older stuff.

I loved all of The Beatles psychedelic albums and all of Cream's stuff, but I don't really like Pet Sounds and I cant get through a whole Pink Floyd album without some...medical help ;)

So any suggestions on psychedelic music that I might be able to get through?

If you're really adventurous, and don't mind some bonecrushing heaviness, then try some Ufomammut. They sound nothing like the Beatles, but if you want psychedelic then they'll send your head for a tailspin.

That's great, just don't recommend them to anybody.

Plankton 08-07-2013 09:30 AM

Can I recommend a friends band? They don't suck, and they've been getting some radio play around here on a local station KAT105. I'm gonna ask Brian if I can create a couple toob vids for them, so they can be a bit more accessible, but for now they're just on Reverbnation:

Convoy Music, Lyrics, Songs, and Videos

"Rule of Pain", "Believe", "Need For Speed", and "Flood of the River" are stand-outs for me, but they're all good.

Thekillerfr1 09-05-2013 08:09 PM

There is a really nice band called Day I Die! It's an underground band but it has a great sounds and it looks really professional!

FallsStart (spelled exactly like that) is looking for a bass player in Florida so they can take their show on the road.

I would recomend "Stryper". Glam metal band that formed in 1983.
