I love how Nasum's last album, Shift, pulled back on the speed a lot of the time. Who knew that they were a pretty awesome sludge band underneath all those blast beats? They kinda sound like a less-chaotic powerviolence band on this record, and combined with that dense, heavily-distorted, yet somehow clean production they're known for, this album just sounds ****ing massive.

It's a shame about their singer, who died in Thailand during the 2004 tsunami. I would love to have seen where the band went after this.

I can't stand the grand majority of Master Of Reality, but this one song is pure genius. Bill Ward didn't even need to show up when they recorded this song because those deliciously doomy downtuned riffs pretty much provide the beat as well.

There are songs with as good riffs as these, but none better.

Especially not that one. Black Sabbath had the tendency to fill their albums with lots of contrasting songs and heavily contrasting styles of riffs. "Children of the Grave" is too low-key rhythmically to keep my attention.

This song is better than you.

Giving this a listen for the Deathcore round of the Metal Album Survivor and it's actually not that bad so far.
