I have that particular LOG album...and it puts me to sleep faster than most ambient records. Very soothing. I guess that has to count for something.

A blast from the past from some avant-metal gods.

It doesn't get much better than Ayreon.

For some reason, I never really got into Gojira for real. But they've got several undividual tracks that I like.

Gojira - The Gift of Guilt

I'm dead serious when I say that I consider this one of the 10 best metal tracks ever recorded across all sub genres. Dead serious.

ARKONA - Zov pustyh dereven'
https://open.spotify.com/track/19gkzrk5vgNS2v9NeopI5f

The whole album is 10/10, but this particular track is something extra special to me.

^Not even any vehement disagreements

Anyway, listening to this right now:

Really gotta start exploring this band more. I'm mostly familiar with their newest couple projects.

Voivod - Angel Rat (1991)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUj9e73qg4k

The odd album cover, appearing sort of out of character for the band, attracted me. Pretty interesting so far. Pretty light and accessible. Reminds me of the Annihilator album "Set the World on Fire" a little bit.
