For the comment that was intended for:

my bench press is pitiful. We're talking five reps with 70 lbs pitiful.
You don't need a PT to improve that ^^, it's not hard, PT's are generally for the unmotivated. Based on the posts she has posted in this thread, she seems more into fitness than strength/muscle building (this is not an insult, just that weight lifting might not be her main interest so I don't know how long she's been lifting).

I'm not saying there aren't any good PT's out there, but you're talking about a minority, I know loads of people getting into it now as it's become sort of a trend. Some of the stuff I've heard them say is a joke (don't drink milk it gives you breasts, don't use machines etc), generally they are for the unmotivated and absolutely clueless.

If you're lifting to failure and you're using low reps/high weight and your diet is in place there is no reason why you shouldn't be gaining strength. This is basic knowledge and you don't need a PT for that.

I'd rather post on bb.com than use a PT, you think the guys on there, some of whom have competed, use PT's? Plenty of bodybuilders don't use them, if they can improve strength without them, why can't you or I?

That is the whole reason the Internet is terrible for someone who doesn't know what they're looking for, they just think "YEAH I WANT BIG ARMS" then only work their arms/chest and end up with some warped weird looking body. I of course know low reps (4-6) of a high weight will indefinitely improve your strength but how many people know stuff like that? You're obviously not ignorant but it would amaze you how many people are and pass fitness of as "just the gym" which obviously annoys me because there's so much more to it.

For what it's worth, I don't actually know much that much about 'fitness' in terms of running, swimming and that sort of thing, I am more into bodybuilding, weights and diet etc.

I don't want to argue about this or come across as a douche because I don't know everything, I just wondered why she wanted a PT to help her improve bench.

I don't want to argue either and I don't expect you to be an Olympian or something I don't know all that much either, I'm just learning after all.

I'm so thrilled to get a boxing set soon! It's absolutely the most enjoyable and stress releasing exercise. I've been practising in the air, and ever since I moved to a new place that had a boxing bag, I'm confident I'd be good at it. Hopefully this will complete the transform because I'm so motivated to do it!

Boxing is really good! I only tried it once in a 'boxercise' class organised by two boys who are in my college class, 1 guy came second in the world championships or whatever it is called in boxing. The class was really fun! I was absolutely fuucked after it, it is really exhausting but the class flew in, surprisingly.

you should try 'combat' classes Felch. It's along the same lines of Boxercise and Zumba in that you punch and kick the air in time to music.
It sounds dumb on paper but in actuality it's quite physically demanding doing an hour long session.

I've always wanted to do boxing, just for fitness really, and also for self defense.

Bought a barbell today, 7 ft, so will be able to use my squat rack with a proper sized barbell, have been managing with using a 5 ft something barbell and not screwing the clamps all the way and pushing the plates more towards the end instead of the collars, which is a bit daft to be fair .
