I will have to agree with The Donnas, but Velvet Revolver are not credited enough to be "over"rated, and i think they have enough talent in the band to justify the ratings they do get. Same with A Perfect Circle except the drummer is highly underrated in my opinion (go Josh Freese!!)

The Donna's have the worst lyrics and ripped off riffs in history, and it wants every underground girl band wanna kill them for being so bad. Like that episode of Futurama where Leela plays Major Legue Blurrnsball and that chick gets all pissed off because Leela's so crap.

I think that bands such as Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, and the like shouldn't even be classed into legitimate genres of music.

So anyhow a band I think is overrated (and was probably mention in this thread before, but I didn't read the whole thing) is the Sex Pistols. The first time I heard them I was honestly not impressed at all. Also AC/DC. They get very repetitive except for a few songs, from what I've heard.

It's almost as if he's been made into a martyr. I do think they're music is amazing, and they no doubt were incredibly influential, but sometimes I think they've been put on a pedestal in a sense because cobain has been given a martyr status.
I don't know anyone who uses the term "gods" to refer to musicians whose windpipe I don't want to crush with a lead pipe. But the unplugged album was really solid, and thats what makes him the best. It was never SLTS or nevermind. Certainly wasn't IU.

I'm not really into Nico but I thought that was a great album. I certainly don't think The Velvet Underground are overrated, not just because I like them, I like Franz Ferdinand and I still know they are, but I just can't see where they fall down. They weren't even that commercial a band until Andy Warhol got involved, even then I don't think the music quality became below par.
Are you kidding me? The critics blow VU all the friggen time. The record store I work at they are considered nearly essential. They are the indie Hendrix/Zeppelin in so far as everyone likes something (in the indie world)

The problem with this post is people are facotring in personal taste all around. Just because you hate them doesn't mean there highly rated. Whatever jackass said any modern rock band cleary is just ranting and not listing bands that are rated highly anywhere.

Insain Clown Posse...
I know they arent rock and there were probably more rap type things in here but... yeah... i hate when a bad band becomes famous when there are plenty of bands that are like 10000000000 times better but nobody knows about them cause people are too busy fussing over ICP and D12 and crap like that
