Do your parents have to be in the National Front to end up with a name like Cuthbert?

This is another non story. If he'd have done what he was told he wouldn't have been shot.

Seriously?

Shot in the back with his kids in the car and the cops defending a power structure that was built and sustained on the decimation of black people.

Yeah OK. Walking off and going into his car as if he's going to get something sealed his fate. Bonkers behaviour.

Frownland 08-25-2020 06:50 AM

A new low for you, fluff.

Consider the legal argument since the moral end is so played out: Death by firing squad for evading police would be absurd compared to the fines and couple years of jail time that they can charge you with when caught. This is another non-anomalous cruel and unusual execution with no due process.

The Batlord 08-25-2020 06:57 AM

I don't think it's lower than posting a meme of Pepe in front of a Muslim detention center tbh.

Anteater 08-25-2020 07:01 AM

Didn't they try to use a taser and it malfunctioned?

Frownland 08-25-2020 07:05 AM

They weren't sure if the first four shots worked either so they shot him a fifth time.

If it turns out he had a gun in his car, those cops are going to get off with a slap on the wrist. If it plays out any other way, there will be consequences for them.

Surrendering to a slave master in front of your children is “bonkers”. Blacks have been backed into a corner for 400 years. What are you supposed to do when there’s no safe passage and never has been?

Complying with the police is not "surrendering to a slave master"

Unbelievable.

Not sure what you mean by consequences. The defense case would simply be that the possibility existed that he was reaching for a gun and the police had no way to know, right?

Not to mention, there was an arrest warrant out for this guy. If police ran his plates before confronting him, they would've found out that there was a warrant out for his arrest and that he has a history of assaulting police.

Frownland 08-25-2020 08:15 AM

If you were forced to comply with everything I say on penalty of death, wouldn't you feel a bit like a slave?

Spend a few months in county lock up because you can’t make bail and then get blackmailed into pleading down insanely trumped up charges and start your two year stint in a state penitentiary then tell me how ****ing unbelievable it is.

I think there could be legal and also other kinds of consequences for these officers. One thing to look at is the excessive force angle, another is the fact that the guy's kids were there in the car and therefore at risk of being hurt or even killed because the police decided to unload a gun in a tight space.

Jacob made some bad decisions. The officers didn't make good decisions to deal with Jacob's actions. Basically, 'Murica.

Frownland 08-25-2020 08:22 AM

The sick bastard broke the officer's knuckles with an expert headbutt!

Yeah, it's possible prosecutors could take the excessive force angle and endangering the occupants of the vehicles. That might work. But the defense could also argue that if the police allowed Blake to enter his vehicle, he may have tried to escape in his car. With the kids present in the car, that would obviously present a danger to the kids and it would have presented a danger to others on the road.

I'm no lawyer or legal scholar, just spitballing here.

Complying with an arrest is slavery. Right

Yes that is correct.

SGR 08-25-2020 08:54 AM

Jacob Blake is paralyzed from waist down and has 'eight holes in his body' after being shot in the back by cops in front of his son on his eighth birthday - as new video emerges of him fighting with officers moments before

Sometimes I think Catbert let's his dad post for him.

OccultHawk 08-25-2020 10:11 AM

I know the pig apologists will say now there’s more video that show him fighting the police now we have the whole story ignoring the fact that this fight started 400 years ago.

I don't know much about the American justice system, but I know enough to know you should take that statement much more seriously than you're doing. How black people in America are treated by police and justice is grim. Something very different from what you (or I for that matter) are used to.
Also, repeating what others have said: not complying with police isn't sensible, but killing someone because they don't is in no way a deserved response, and it isn't self defense either. It's just outrageously cruel, whichever way you frame it

I must have missed what I'm sure is the completely rational explanation for this.

You don't want to know. It's about as rational as 'battleaxe' anyway

Nobody else other than you has said that not complying isn't sensible. And that statement is ludicrous.

If you know you’re not going to get a fair shake in the legal system wtf is the sensible path?

And honestly do you know anything about how our jails work?

Do you have any idea what happens to him even if he complies?

OccultHawk 08-25-2020 12:35 PM

And btw, we’re done blaming the victims. That **** is played out.

Frownland 08-25-2020 12:37 PM

You're supposed to march to your death like a good boy. Once the poor fully behaves in an angelic way, maybe then we'll see about this whole liberal "humane treatment" nonsense. Until then they clearly cannot be trusted enough to handle being treated with decency.

Not really. Let me nuance this. If your main objective is merely a primitive urge to stay alive, then resisting police in any way as a black American is not a sensible thing to do. I don't think anyone here disagrees. However, the fact that things are this way is horrible. And from a civil rights point of view, considering how horribly black people are treated by police and law, resisting police is understandable and may be the sensible option

The Batlord 08-25-2020 12:57 PM

Dadbert's the kinda guy who'd cut your hands off for stealing a loaf of bread and then say it's your fault you tripped cause you didn't tie your shoelaces.

Lucem Ferre 08-25-2020 01:33 PM

Complying with the police would be sensible if police were trustworthy but they got prison quotas to fill, yo, and the prisons don't want to be taxed by the state for being too empty.
