It honestly sounds more like an embellished story that Lot or his family told their offspring for the life lesson of obedience than a historical event. A story that was then passed down for many generations before being written down (then edited, then re-edited, then rewritten, etc.).

Also, the bible is in no way a stranger to metaphors, so maybe we should take the wilder parts of the story with

The problem I have with this is your saying that the Lord of the land has divine right. He is a messenger of god. And many kings that truly believed they had divine right were evil men. I get the overall point your making and it's good. Is this an excerpt from the Bible itself?

Isn't that kind of a defining characteristic of a cult that anyone outside their group should be avoided because they don't have the same values? They would kind of expect outsiders not to hold their practices in as high esteem and that is why they're doomed.

They dont **** with "outsiders" as a form of mind control. Limit contact with the outsiders so your members don't get any "ideas".
