Well, they have to deal with the … Look, there is institutional segregation in this country. And from the time I got involved, I started dealing with that. Redlining, banks, making sure that we are in a position where—

Look, we talk about education. I propose that what we take is those very poor schools, the Title 1 schools, triple the amount of money we spend from $15 to $45 billion a year. Give every single teacher a raise to the equal of … A raise of getting out of the $60,000 level.

No. 2, make sure that we bring in to the help with the stud—the teachers deal with the problems that come from home. The problems that come from home, we need… We have one school psychologist for every 1,500 kids in America today. It’s crazy. The teachers are required—I’m married to a teacher. My deceased wife is a teacher. They have every problem coming to them.

Make sure that every single child does, in fact, have three, four, and five-year-olds go to school. School! Not day care, school. We bring social workers into homes of parents to help them deal with how to raise their children. It’s not that they don’t want to help. They don’t know what— They don’t know what quite what to do. Play the radio. Make sure the television—excuse me, make sure you have the record player on at night. The phone—make sure the kids hear words. A kid coming from a very poor school—er, a very poor background will hear 4 million words fewer spoken by the time they get there.

Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible.
Can't wait for the Alzheimer's showdown at the debates.

"My deceased wife is a teacher."

Both of those rambling quotes read like something out of a book by William S. Burroughs.

Lucem Ferre 04-08-2020 12:19 PM

He's staying on the ballot, technically you can still vote for him.

I just don't want Trump appointing two more SC Justices. Biden can sleep fart his way through four years if it means the courts stay balanced.

Can’t do it, personally. I get it, though.

I don’t get why we always reject even trying to achieve universal nutrition, housing, and health care - not just nationally but globally.

WWWP 04-08-2020 01:33 PM

I am actually quite upset about this. I knew it was a long shot, but I thought finally people were getting it. Bigly disappointed, guess I'll stop voting now.

Yeah. There was a flicker of hope there for a bit.

Lucem Ferre 04-08-2020 01:53 PM

I'm still voting for Bernie. Try and stop me, punks!

You should if he’s on the ballot.

He is. He said he's staying on the ballot to gather delegates or something.

OccultHawk 04-08-2020 02:20 PM

I hope he runs as an independent. I hope Yang does too. I think this virus might be making people think outside the box. Yang’s case for UBI makes a lot more sense to a lot of people suddenly, I know that.

Also, the homeless can’t shelter in place, and a week on a ventilator (if it’s not covered in the stimulus already) is going to be a life crushing expense for many survivors. That socialized medicine suddenly makes more sense as does universal housing. And again, universal nutrition.

Lucem Ferre 04-08-2020 02:22 PM

I doubt he will.

jwb 04-08-2020 02:44 PM

He won't. He'll be campaigning for Biden in the general like Psy-Fi said.

Anteater 04-08-2020 03:07 PM

I'm just gonna write in Yang.

My girlfriends conservative Trump loving father who I also adore thinks Yang is fantastic which makes me both eager to learn more about him but also afraid I'll ruin the mystique.

jwb 04-08-2020 03:43 PM

Allow me to ruin it for you.

I wouldn't vote for you either though.

Positive: Free money
Negative: Wants to subtract from it to the amount you receive from the govt in programs like snap and disability so it wouldn’t really help the especially downtrodden. He also is a capitalist who adores what he thinks are free market innovations or the potential for such.

OccultHawk 04-08-2020 03:57 PM

If I get my Trump Bucks in a timely manner I’ll vote for Donald.

If I get my first unemployment by the end of this week I’ll vote for DeSantis.

Yes, I’m for sale.

I might reneg. Especially if I don’t feel like voting.

Yang being so technology oriented would be good for the government though. Just look at this crap going on with the SBA and IRS to get people their Bux. They're 20 years behind the general population and the private sector.

So you're finally coming around to my view that voting is ultimately pointless because humans are too stupid?

I've never thought my vote mattered but I did feel some civic obligation or duty. But you're right, it's all a joke, what's the point. Brb self isolating forever.

Let’s call them Trump Bucks. It’s sexy.

The Batlord 04-08-2020 05:53 PM

No, it's stupid. He's not giving you money. Congress is. And just about any president would have signed that legislation anyway. Don't be a retard.

Lucem Ferre 04-08-2020 05:54 PM

No Trump bucks for you.

Anteater 04-08-2020 06:42 PM

I guess they would have been HusseinBux if this had happened a decade ago.

OccultHawk 04-08-2020 09:11 PM

Nah dude

After Super Tuesday it was curtains

OccultHawk 04-08-2020 09:27 PM

And plus this virus is opening a lot of opportunities to lead awesome **** in the senate like even if we don’t have Medicare for all beefing up the public option like crazy just when it’s needed most, making huge strides toward universal housing because homelessness is a huge health problem, taking the newly unemployed and giving them real livable wages doing public works projects like building subways and light rails to combat carbon emmisions, plant trillions of trees, find ways to eat local and make communities more bonded and healthy with public gardens - hopefully where no longer needed roads and parking lots were, building vertical forests -

Remember our National Parks and many state parks were a part of the public works program during the Great Depression.

There’s so many positive things we can do if we get to reimagine our economy.

He’s better off pushing a leftist agenda where he’s at, writing legislation instead of running another losing campaign.

I’m not optimistic any of those good things will happen but they could. The iron is hot. Now more than ever we need to push for positive change because how often is the economy on pause?

For all the right harps on about anti-rich class warfare and how it's destroying America apparently the only hate that can get Americans fired up is anti-immigrant hate.

My own personal experience in the last few weeks is that America is discovering just how much it is happy to rely on soulless fast food to feed themselves when they don't feel like feeding themselves. Seriously, we're getting destroyed at work and when the stimulus checks start rolling in it's going to be D-Day at work and I'm going to want to eviscerate every one of those customers.

OccultHawk 04-08-2020 09:39 PM

On the front line for the American people.

The Batlord 04-08-2020 10:00 PM

And just like most wars nobody actually gives a **** about the people on the front lines.

OccultHawk 04-08-2020 10:29 PM

You should just say you have a cough and tightness of chest and stop going in. I doubt they’re going to fire anyone and risk that sort of bad press. I’d take two weeks and see what’s going on then. If you have to go to the doctor and just say you have a cough and tightness of chest. I did my doctor visit on zoom this morning. Easy af.

Hopefully, fast food will be connected with spreading the virus soon and be completely shutdown. There’s no reason for fast food workers to be risking death when the CEO’s who could physically distance at work aren’t even coming in. People can cook their own food ffs.
