Kayo dot- Hubardo If you are at all an adventurous music fan, and like the idea of an over 100 minute post-classical-avant-black-jazz-metal album with hints of folk you owe it to yourself to give it a listen. Easily their best since Choirs of the Eye, and atm I'd say better than it. |
Fuel I heard last by Metallica

Ulcerate - Vermis (2013) Now here was an album I was really looking forward to when it was announced. Ulcerate are a New Zealand death metal band that takes equal influence from bands like Gorguts and Nile as well as bands like ISIS and Cult of Luna. So you'll have your typical death metal affair, then it will cut away to one of the softer melodies you expect from bands like ISIS. It creates an interesting juxtaposition and ensures that it never becomes meaningless noise. |

Skitliv - Skandinavisk Misantropi have not actually listened to this one yet....but have very high hopes....seems that its basically a bunch of black metal favorites....ie members of Mayhem and Gorgoroth doping doom metal with guest vocals from my personal favorite....David Tibet of Current 93 fame....gonna save this for tomorrows midnight drive http://media.mwcradio.com/mimesis/20...75x310_q85.jpg Nirvana - In Utero (Deluxe) i did not buy the one i pictured above.....but i did get the deluxe on itunes....no book and remembering....mainly for the 2013 remix by Albini, Novoselic, and Grohl....and i must say i am impressed with it....after listening to a great interview with Novoselic and Grohl about the original Albini recording, "their" decision to remix that original with Scott Litt, and their decision to remix the entire album for this edition again with Albini...they really managed to manipulate an entire new feeling and for the most part album....highly suggested for fans of this 90s masterpiece also a pleasant surprise on the first disc is the original Albini mixes of both All Apologies and Heart Shaped Box....the original Heart Shaped Box has an amazing fuzz delay and the drums are straight from Jesus Lizard's Liar...and All Apologies is straight up noise pop http://images2.mtv.com/shared/media/...k&quality=0.85 Paul Seemus dominated a day of plugdj with these guys and basically made me fall in love with them....this was where he told me to start http://soultrain.com/blog/wp-content...ae-285x280.jpg Janelle Monáe - The Electric Lady i honestly think this was easily one of my most anticipated albums this year...her debut was amazing and really sparked a new interest in current pop music in me...and in my opinion this album in no way shape or form disappoints....her is an incredible song writer with an incredible talent....who is finally getting the notice she deserves |

Cult of Luna - Vertikal II EP (2013) I will admit I was overly harsh on Vertikal earlier in the year and have thus changed my assessment of the album. This is an EP of material that was cut from the album and one remix from Justin Broderick. I'm mostly just waiting on other projects to come out so this is more of a filler album, but I've been really enjoying Vertikal in the car lately so a little appendix to a great album is always nice. |

Primevil-Smokin' Bats at Camptons http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...sholymoney.jpg Swans-Holy Money Found both of these in a box full of gospel lps at a flea market for $.50 a piece. Of course the Swans record was a no-brainer, but admittedly I only bought the Primevil record because it was the only other record in the bin that looked remotely interesting. I came home and found out that it's a pretty rare piece of vinyl. When they occasionally appear on eBay copies go for around $300 a piece . Now I can't decide if I want to sell it or hold on to it so I can brag about the rare record I have.:thumb: |
Swans at 50 cents? Good deal.
Bob that Skitliv album sounds interesting. For me: https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...JWmmn2Gm6Gib8w Oh wow. First album in four years and from a band still going after 30 years and making an album full of diverse influences and sounds yet still retaining that classic NMA sound is to be commended. How a band can make a track about Evil Knievil sound so epic lyrically and musically and not sound like a bunch of geeky fans is the **** really. https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/i...JppROO48QSdBzA They do it again. Europe loves them. Britain ignores them yet they are one of the most interesting bands ever to come out of here. Pink Floyd meets Massive Attack via Radiohead but they don't write singles so the media ignores them. |

http://www.progarchives.com/progress...1165102008.jpg Heard part of this before I think, but cant really remember it. We'll see if it lives up to having no reputation with me whatsoever. http://assets.boomkat.com/images/141135/333.jpg No idea what to expect http://assets.boomkat.com/images/213706/333.jpg who knows! http://weirdcanada.com/wp-content/up...ngdomshore.jpg heard some of this already and it sounds pretty cool. Carlo Castellano - The Swapper OST I've been enjoying video game soundtracks lately, so I figured I'd hunt down a copy of the ambient/ piano laden soundtrack from one of my favorite games of 2013, The Swapper. |

The Human League - Dare They play Don't You Want Me at work near enough every day and I have grown to love the song even more than I used to so I thought I would listen to this (perhaps I have before but forgotten). Hope it's good. |

Luxuria - Unanswerable Lust Decided to buy this album, but on vinyl as opposed to CD. I don't actually have a vinyl player, but considering how much I love the album I thought it would be a nice treat (and it's not like I get out my CD's and play them when I want to listen to albums I have downloaded anyway). Best album Howard Devoto has been involved in. |
Picked up today:

Justin Timberlake - 20/20 Experience Part 2
Nelly - M.O. Lorde - Pure Heroine Haim - Days are Gone Elton John - The Diving Board Moby - Innocents Moby - Extreme Ways(Remixes) I'm glad I waited before buying Part 1 of the 20/20 Experience. He has a Complete Experience that came out with all of the tracks on one cd. I will definitely pick that up soon. |
This past summer, Clutch - Earth Rocker has been my go-to, but recently I picked up Derek Trucks - Already Free, and am in love with slide guitar again.
Go-Go gadget Dobro! |

Jesu - Every Day I Get Closer to the Light From Which I Came (2013) Let's hope this is an improvement from 2011's lackluster Ascension. Spoiler alert, it's not. |

A score to Edisons 1910 version of Frankenstein created in 2007. Dark, broody stuff. Really want to track down the DVD/CD combo for this and explore Life Toward Twilight more and so should you Life Toward Twilight - Rustic, Neovictorian, Steampunk Ambient https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/i...VacGg5Ak5R1hkw A mish mash of dark Folk, Industrial and Ethereal sounds, it is nothing less than intriguing. https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...qhc7kCmlusiN0w Yes I do like this album 95% of the time and now own it and still enjoyed it today after not hearing it for a couple of years. |
