There's plenty of jazz-influenced post-rock bands beyond maudlin of the Well, most of whom play that experimental 4-minute thing you're talking about. Do Make Say Think, for one, blends together the ambient kind of post-rock and the jazz-influence. toe, a Japanese band, actually tosses some math rock into the mix and plays shorter songs.

sgt., another Japanese band, plays a much jazzier, more experimental sound.

I've been getting into Post rock quite a bit lately. I'm trying to find more stuff like Lowercase Noises but I think he's got his own thing going on

The only standout on The Gaslight Anthem's "American Slang" is the title track and it doesn't even stand out that much.

I hate U2. The Edge and Bono I hate even more.

Though as a side note I respect what they are trying to do for charities and what not. I just hate them as musicians.

That is most definitely not an unpopular music opinion.

I hate U2 since around 2000... before that they were awesome... then they backtracked big time and made boring music like 90% of All You Can't Leave Behind... the next album was terrible, and No line on the Horizon has some promise, yet it somehow still falls short of expectations...

"I'll just go crazy if I don't crazy tonight"... what kind of lyric is that? Why doesn't he just declare "I'm going to go crazy" and spare us the convoluted english language mangling...

I love all of U2's albums up to Rattle & Hum, especially Boy, War, and Joshua Tree.

I second this. At least I used to love them when I was a tween/teen; haven't listened to them in ages. But whenever I hear a song here and there, I get all nostalgic.
