But they sold so many albums! How could a band be bad and so popular at the same time, it just doesn't make sense to me.

I've never owned a Metallica album all i know from them is their hits and they aren't bad.

idk why but as soon as a band gets big alot fans abandon them same goes if they change their sound, i think that happened to Metallica in a way.

They might not have any great albums but they definitely aren't very bad.

That's okay. Black metal isn't for everyone.

Critically acclaimed by who though? You have black metal bands like Burzum, Darkthrone, Enslaved, Bathory, Drudkh and Emperor who have released a string of top-notch albums.

Read my post again bro.
I wouldn't necessarily say that thrash metal is better than black metal. Likewise I wouldn't say that black metal is better than thrash metal. It's all subjective isn't it? I just happen to like both genres equally.

I don't think they're the greatest metal band ever either. But I have been a fan of them since I was 14 and I've seen them live twice.

I suppose that my unpopular opinion would be that Daniel Ash is a billion times better than Peter Murphy as a front man and that the worst Tones on Tail song is better than the best Bauhaus song

which in my opinion is Rose Garden Funeral of Sores....which is a cover

I will say that a bass on Stigmata Martyr is quite possibly one of the greatest moments in music history

I love Daniel Ash! I'm admittedly a bigger fan of Love and Rockets than Tones on Tail but I'm with you on the Ash vs Murphy thing.

That hurts man, right in the heart. I'm surprised to hear it too because I would have guessed that Bauhaus, having more of a raw edge, were more your style. I'd say I like Ash and Murphy about equally as frontmen. I'll also say I like Bauhaus more than Love & Rockets and both bands more than Tones on Tail.

Don't get me wrong.....I do love Bauhaus.....and I think In the Flat Field is easily a five star album

I got into Tones on Tail way before I had heard a proper Bauhaus track....so I'm sure that has something to do with

plus I just think Murphey is such an asshole

Gotta disagree strongly with that. My two favorite albums are 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Dark Side of the Moon'.

However... The Wall is overrated ****ing garbage, and I'm pretty sure it's a favorite for a lot of people just because there's so many t-shirts and a movie.
