Some shit bands there but still, I think he stated them comments in 1997 when he was coked up. He was relevant back then and people would ask him questions because they knew they'd get opinions, whether it was political or saying bands like Suede were shit. He was just a young lad who thought he was the dogs bollocks because back then - his band were. I bet now he's in his 40s looking back at some of the comments he made he would just have to go I remember watching/listening to a radio interview about the last time he was on the show, he was drunk and they were asking questions about what he said. "Noel, what did you call Sarah the producer the last time you were on the show. A) an idiot." and he was clearly embarrassed. Liam is the shameless one who throws Brit awards into the crowd.

I don't get why Noel is in the same bracket as Liam. Noel has actually grown up and isn't in the press anymore, he's just a family man. Liam is still going around saying "Live Forever".
Yeah good point. I was just talking abt them back in the day. Thats the stuff that cracks me up. I don't really know too much abt them beyond that, but your british so I'll trust you.

I can't stand Sebadoh. I don't care for Guided by Voices either.

I'm not big on lo fi outside of Pavement, NMH and Dino Jr. A lot of it just sh*tty for the sake of sh*ttiness.
Funny enough, that's how I feel about the non-Barlow Sebadoh tracks. Lou's songs are the more serious ones, and are definitely not sh*tty for the sake of sh*ttiness.

It's decent. Just played "A Punchup at a Wedding" too and it's also decent. I'm just not a fan of HttT, personally. And it has nothing to do with it being less electronic than the previous two albums. I just don't like most of the songs, and the album overall feels weak. I'm not ruling out the possibility that it will grow on me over time, but each time I try, it just seems to drag.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Jet are from Australia.

Anyway, the only british bands around right now I particularly like are Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, Muse, Ozric Tentacles, a few other prog bands. Though things have been rough for Muse lately.

Coldplay are decent.

Regardless, he really thought he was the sh*t, it's one thing to be arrogant, it's another to just write off your peers, especially the ones like Blur and Suede who were actually good.

I think Phil Collins is a prick that should fuck off with his self indulgent drum solos anyway.
Self indulgent drum solos?

I can't even think of a time he's ever done a drum solo, at least with Genesis. What are you talking about?

He's a very skilled drummer but also a very reserved one, he doesn't really show off except maybe at a live show every now and then. How is he at all self indulgent?

Dinosaur Jr went downhill massively when Barlow left. You only have to listen to Green Mind or Where You Been and compare it to You're Living All Over Me or Bug.
It's like listening to a different band.

I don't really have an opinion on Lo-fi, only to say it sound really fucking stupid when a typical 'hyped band of the month' goes into an expensive state of the art major label backed studio and then try to make it sound Lo-fi because that's what's being hyped this week.

He's a good bass player and thus it's nice to see him back in Dinosaur Jr again, but I don't really like Barlow as a songwriter.

Lose and Poledo are easily the worst songs from You're Living all over Me, they're pretty terrible songs that hurt an otherwise great album.

Oddly enough Punchup at a Wedding is the one song from the album I'm not too crazy about.

I don't think it's any less consistant than the other post PH Radiohead albums, personally.

I thought Green Mind was decent but I agree that they started going downhill around that point.

I dunno if that's really because of Barlow's departure or just because Mascis started running out of material, I think it's the latter. There's nothing about Sebadoh that convinces me that Barlow is a particularly talented songwriter, I just don't get his appeal.

So Oasis can't influence people from Australia? Or am I missing something? Things have been rough for poor Muse

The thing is though, he didn't just come out (most of the time) and drag a load of people through the press. Interviewers would ask him a question to get news, simple as that. If they didn't ask what Oasis thought of Keane, he wouldn't tell them. Damon actually started the feud between Oasis and Blur, there was a gig in Manchester, Oasis gig and Blur gig were close. And they agreed to call off both gigs incase of trouble and Oasis called theirs off and Blur carried on anyway. Damon started the feud. I'd rather Noel come out and say Damon - I don't like you, you're a prick and your music is shit. Than play nicey nicey, he had something to say... and he said it. Nothing wrong with that.

I don't know whether he does drum solos with Genesis I just know he has done them live. There's no place for shit drum solos, even live. But that's just my personal thing, can't stand drum solos.

I thought you were giving me examples of the modern British rock scene, sorry about that.

Also, I meant that Muse are declining musically.

Albarn is a prick, but he's also incredibly talented.

That is where I make the distinction.

Not even Ringo's solo from The End?

I think drum solos are great as long as they're kept short and fit the music.

But yeah, in the studio Phil never solos. I don't really care what any musician does live if the studio material is excellent. I don't really go to concerts, it's not my kind of experience.
