I really try quite hard to never feel bad about any music I listen to. I enjoy whatever, I'm not self-conscious about it, really. But if I had to pick the ones that other people might judge me for, I'd pick out the following.

Avenged Sevenfold
Paramore
Foo Fighters
blink-182

And I used to listen to Three Days Grace and Avril Lavigne when I was like 13.

I've only noticed 'proper Punk' fans spew Green Day hate, I think the general consensus amongst people on here is they like Dookie but don't really care for much else.. I might be wrong but that's how it seems to me.

I'm pretty convinced MB is one of the least snobby and/or elitist areas of the internet.

I know people that like all them bands. Fucking atrocious the lot of 'em.

I was going to look into taking my younger brother to see Paramore, but they really, genuinely make me cringe when I hear them. I wouldn't say I liked any of the above bands, but 'Downfall of us all' by A Day To Remember holds some pretty good, drunken memories for me...

And, in your defence, I didn't think 'American Idiot' was that bad. One of my flatmates bought it and I certainly wouldn't have put it as Green Day at it's worst. It was just the over exposure that made it incessantly annoying.

I'd only go if it meant secks with Hayley Williams, despite her having extremely disappointing breasts and her being a massive scene twt. The Kooks - Naive holds great drunken memories for me, but it's still really shit. :D

American Idiot is a great album. If it wasn't all over the radio and you found it knowing nothing about the band, everyone would think it's a gem of an album. I don't know how you could dislike Jesus Of Suburbia. I guess it's just cool to hate Green Day, even though they have 2 really good albums.

I have a personal grudge against her - when 'Misery Business' came out and they started to appear EVERYWHERE, I had a very similar haircut and colour to her. This resulted in that years birthday presents being red skinny jeans and Etnies high tops. She made me have to cut my hair and I'll never forgive her.

And even I was disappointed in her breasts.

Onto Lostprophets... The guys I was living with at the time had 'The fake sound of progress' and 'Start something' and tbh I didn't think they were awful. A couple of times I put those albums on of my own free will. Though, saying that, after 'Start Something' I can't really say I ever paid that much attention to them...

Phwoar.

Shame about her boobage and annoying whiny voice.

homesick.alien 06-20-2010 05:52 AM

^ I hate Paramore so ****ing much. I hate Jimmy Eat World even more because they are responsible for this emo trash we have so much of these days. Stupid whiny voices whining about stupid teenage angst.

My deepest music secret?- I like Nelly Furtado. And Lily Allen. Is this deep enough?

Pop Punk >>>> Paramore > Jimmy Eat World >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Plague > AIDS > wet socks > Nelly Furtado > Lilly Allen.

homesick.alien 06-20-2010 05:59 AM

Ah. I see how it is then. Actually, I only like one song from Nelly Furtado, In God's Hands.

That's a bit harsh to blame it all on Jimmy Eats World, isn't it?!

I rearranged it for you :D

Lily Allen > Green Day?

Whiny American angst filled pop Punk is far better than a gobby London talentless common twat.
Plus Green Day do that type of music well, Dookie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lily Allen's existence. Although Lily Allen has a crackin' bum.

I just always have strongly disliked them, just their overall persona. I like Lily Allen.

Anyway, this thread is about your deepest music secret, so there's mine.

I also sometimes (infrequently to be precise) enjoy me some mindless c-pop.

I said it in another thread, I don't get the hate for them. It just seems like in some quarters it's cool to hate them. But meh, they're okay.

I like how she's so much of a twat when drunk she makes a ridiculous embarrassment of herself, it's midly amusing.

And... well, I have nothing to say to that. C-pop

and about the Green Day thing, I most just reallly really dislike their lead singer. I really really dislike him. And his voice.

... Sunny Day Real Estate is great. I don't care who they've inspired. And that 'whiny emo' stuff isn't really the biggest burden on music today, anyways.

Air 06-20-2010 01:00 PM

At night when I'm bored and can't fall asleep, I watch all those sh*tty pop music videos you see on tv. I actually have NO clue why. I don't even enjoy the music. Or the videos. Wtf.

What makes you think only Jimmy Eat World? Loads of bands have inspired the emo bands of the past 10 years such as Refused, At The Drive-In, Fugazi, Failure, Weezer, The Cure and many more, why not hate them as well while you're at it? The only people responsible for any genre turning into watered-down sh!te are money-hungry major labels, and you should know that. Saying that certain bands are responsible is just stupid. And besides Jimmy Eat World don't sing much about teenage angst and they piss upon current emo bands from great heights.

RVCA 06-20-2010 04:14 PM

I saw Blink-182 last summer.

I'm very glad I went the first day instead of the second, because I got to see Weezer and Taking Back Sunday open instead of All-American Rejects and Fall Out Boy. (cringe)

RVCA 06-20-2010 04:16 PM

Oh, here's a good one. I used to really like (and still like) The Academy Is...

I do that too, but I also have my own Beavis and Butthead commentary going on in my head while watching.

duga 06-20-2010 09:13 PM

The first band I was serious enough about to collect all their albums was Limp Bizkit. I blame middle school and peer pressure.

rammetal7 06-21-2010 08:44 AM

Tha Block Is Hot By Lil Wayne,
It is the artist himself that is embarrassing, but the actual song is good, Lil Wayne does not actually use auto tune! I wish Lil Wayne stayed like this.

Well I'm sure if you looked at what I listen to nowadays you would agree that I've redeemed myself.

Besides...you listen to Abba.

ABBA made great pop songs. Limp Bizkit were an abomination.

Well I know that now. Honestly, though...they wouldn't have been an abomination if they had toned it down a bit. 3 Dollar Bill did not at all hint at the idiocy that was to follow.

I still don't like ABBA that much more. Though I will admit they have more musical talent while passing gas than Fred Durst did on his best days.

One of my favourite bands in high school was Blink 182. Even Tom Mark and Travis have more talent than Fred Durst whilst passing gas. :D

I think if they'd toned it down, they'd be a bit like Linkin Park Minutes to Midnight era. Equally terrible.

ABBA are great, though I don't own any of their albums. I got so much stick off friends when I said I quite liked them, even though they do great pop songs I doubt any of their albums are really worth listening to..

Kid Rock & Cheryl Crow - Picture is a great great song. :o:

In elementary school my favourite band was Mindless Self Indulgence.

it still haunts me...to this day.

Violent & Funky 06-21-2010 02:44 PM

I burned a copy of Significant Other a few days ago and have enjoyed listening to it as I drive around...

RVCA 06-21-2010 02:45 PM

meh... I equate MSI to SOAD... both are kinda fun to listen to but get old fast

However, SOAD is definitely the better band. At least I don't feel like I'm losing IQ points while listening to them
