I vote no, just not good enough for a hall of fame. There's nothing bad about them but this isn't a 'vote yes if you like this band' thread,

True, but isn't it all subjective? There's no specific criteria for voting. I persoanlly wouldn't vote for a band based soley off how much i like them, but it's acceptable reasoning.

seeing as this is the first time that i and many others have even heard of them, i don't feel that they should be in the HoF, a place which is supposed to represent the shared tastes of most of the people here.

Bulldog sent me some downloads of their stuff, so I'll give'em a go...I'll post back what I thought of them when I have given them a good listen!

Seminal in the evolution of house, very diverse and a good point of reference for the whole 'continuum', thus the vote. Also their sound hasn't dated badly, compared with the more commercial dance music from that era, it's quite cerebral. It would be a boon to the HoF to get at least one act in there representing electronica & dance, that's a whole new can of funky worms really. AND it's like the music you hear in late 70's/80's sci-fi films in club scenes, the ones trying to anticipate what futuristic junk we'd be dancing to through space-speakers installed in our Moontropolis condos. Little did they know

If you voted no you probably just need the customary MDMA experience to loosen you up Is that Ted from accounts laughing hysterically and pressing his face against that speaker stack with his shirt off? By golly i think it is

Ha! I like it - name change perhaps?

Eloquently put as per norm as well m'lad, to which I'd add this. I see whether I've heard of an artist up for nomination as irrelevant - if a member feels strongly enough about whoever he or she is nominating, gives me the feeling that, unless I'm dead sure I wouldn't want them anywhere near the Hall Of Fame here, they're worth a gamble y'know, and by gamble I of course mean listening to a related album or two. I hadn't heard much of the Monks at all and certainly had no idea who Big Black were when they were nominated but still voted yes based on giving their albums a listen at the time. This being a Hall Of Fame representing a forum that covers all genres, getting a surprise here and there should be part of parcel of at least the nomination round.

I won't whine though - people are gonna vote however they want, and I'm cool with that.

Damn straight! At the end of the day it's introducing new stuff to people which is very much in the spirit of the idea in the first place so i definitely encourage more Leftfields.

It's going to be a ja from me, some mighty fine chillout music which i'm sure would be great club music if i was pilled up as well.
