Moving from a spread out populace to more condensed population centers=/=increasing the population
I get that and I understand the advantages of curbing urban sprawl.

Unfortunately you’re right about that. It’s sad that we can’t collectively decide to protect the world’s biodiversity but that’s the way it is. Everyone thinks they should be allowed to shower the world with their DNA unchecked by culture or government. Who cares that once we crash the tipping point there’s no coming back? Let’s blame it on greed instead of need so we can pretend the problem only exists in the places we don’t like.

I don't want my DNA out there. I'm not heavy into eugenics but my genes are totally tainted. At least not until we learn how to properly treat mental illness. And I'm definitely not going to have my hand in ****ing up a child by raising it.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Let's say we could, what would the most feasible approach be?

Reward voluntary sterilization world wide. Culturally stigmatize pregnancy and child birth. Make heterosexual intercourse taboo. Admit there’s a problem.

my argument is that "overpopulation" is just an out when it comes to shifting towards sustainability
That’s like saying objecting to the private automobile is just an out when it comes to dealing with traffic. It’s as if you don’t understand that humans have to consume to survive. It’s ****ing shocking. What must be sustained? Human populations and the ecosystems we interact and share the world with. How could population be a non-issue when it comes to sustaining the population?

My politics have nothing to do with overpopulation being the problem. I can’t change reality to fit my utopian vision. If there’s a problem that isn’t solved through anarchism it doesn’t go away just because I’m an anarchist.

Wouldn't that incentivization lead to sterilization on class lines pretty much 100% of the time?

I'd say that mandating sustainable agricultural practices and moving from fossil fuels to nuclear power is the most practical approach for reducing human impact on biodiversity without compromising on ethics. Sustainable forms of energy are good but typically take up a lot of land which would be counterintuitive for this problem. That's not to say that overpopulation isn't a big player in all of this of course.

I 100% agree. There’s two things we definitely need to do: 1) Limit the amount we consume as individuals and 2) limit the number of individuals doing the consuming.
