Never played these games, and part 4's coming out. Excited.

Im really liking this game, its a solid tactic rpg with a Bleach theme. This game is more interesting if you know the anime like i do but even if you don't it's still a decent tactic rpg.

They're decent commercial games that look good (great world locations) and provide some good entertainment but I wouldn't call them classic or essential playing.

Thanks for the compliment. :)

seriously though, that game is pretty good. it explores the soul society and the backstory of alot of Bleach characters while adding original characters into the mix.

Gave up on Metal Gear Solid V, but instead have been having a blast playing Super Mario Maker on Wii U - a game that lets you create and share Mario stages.

I'm not much of a stage designer myself, but love playing other peoples offerings and am often surprised by the quality of the design. Providing players keep uploading their stages, I can see myself enjoying this for years to come. Great game.

This War of Mine

I've had this game on my wishlist for a while and it finally went on sale. And my god this game is fantastic so far. The way the atmosphere just screams "post-war" is both chilling and depressing. I survived for 5 days through my first mission, but I quickly realized how important it is to be sure you ration the food and medical supplies and don't be too hasty with what you've got. It's also tough when you've got people raiding your shelter and when you don't have weapons at your disposal to start off. Really like this game. Don't know how much time i'll put into it as it seems to be a game that i'd like to play when I'm not really in the mood to be completely too focused in on what's going on. Doesn't mean it's not good. Just doesn't require me to put in too much to get to where I need to go.

Yac 10-07-2015 05:10 AM

They just released modding tools and a while back, they made This War of Mine steam workshop compatible.
Also, I have to say as a Pole, yet another great Polish game, I really am proud :D At least something in this god forsaken country to be proud about :P

Yeah, I saw that you can implement custom stories which i'm definitely going to check out.

I wonder how long it will take before someone makes a zombie mod for the game, because I think This War of Mine is absolutely perfect for one.

Did you end up getting a Playstation 4 yet and if so your impressions? As I'm thinking of getting one in the next few weeks, even though I haven't completely ruled out an Xbox One yet.

I did and I've been enjoying it, although I've been super busy with university that I haven't had much time to play any games, and when I do it's usually short bursts of Payday 2 or Dark Souls II on my PC. Right now I only have The Last of Us Remastered but it's definitely an improvement on the PS3 version both in performance and visuals, although it must be commended what Naughty Dog was able to do on on the PS3 hardware. I've decided that I'm going to wait until Black Friday (US holiday celebrating rampant consumerism) to get Bloodborne and probably pick up Until Dawn come Christmas. The only hiccups I've had so far has been this weird static noise/ fuzzy screen thing but that went away after a minute or so and hasn't come back. Oh, and there's also been this recurring issue with sound where I have to turn off my TV and then turn it back on to get my sound working, but I think that's a TV/HDMI issue rather than a console issue. If you're on the fence about it, I'd still recommend the PS4 over the Xbox One, but either way I'd say wait a few weeks because there's going to be a price drop.

Good advice with Black Friday I kind of forgot about that. I saw that they're predicting some of the cheaper P4 bundles to be around 299 dollars which is less than 200 sterling here. My original budget was around 350 sterling but with the Black Friday deals I'll probably be able to get a both a PS4 and a Wii U bundle for that price :p:

Just bought Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga for less than $2 at a thrift store, and of course it won't run on Windows 10. Now begins the tedious process of either getting it to work or using a virtual machine.

I'm trying to get Rome Total War to work on Windows 10 as well, any ideas?

I bought Baldur's Gate saga as well dirt cheap for a couple of quid years ago and mine also doesn't work

Try using a Google search. There are plenty of people who have these issues, post them on forums, and then get responses that help.

And I haven't tried using a virtual machine yet, but it's basically just a way to install an old OS onto a separate partition on your hard drive. It's apparently like having two computers in one.

Guaranteed to work on Windows 10

Sometimes older programs just don't work on newer systems. If all else fails though, there's still the virtual machine option. Don't know if that's a viable solution, but who knows?

You haven't played Alien: Isolation. You've never spent ten minutes hiding inside a locker after having the alien stomp around not five feet away from you, finally gather the courage to come out, and then hear... something, and immediately **** yourself and rush back into the locker for twenty more minutes.

The added stress of feeling like I was actually inside of the locker might actually make me physically sick.

Mr. Charlie 10-12-2015 10:07 AM

Gone back to Bloodborne, albeit on New Game+++. Still a blast.

Well than you can't really place an opinion on one can you? I know where Batty is coming from. It's not about being a wuss. Certain games do a fantastic job at making you fear for your life.

Captain Tsubasa

I don't think this game was ported to the US but it's a soccer rpg that is pretty fun.

it plays like any other soccer game but when an opponent is near you it turns into a turn based rpg. Your characters also raise their stats after the game depending on how you used them.

I'm still in the medbay section. I keep telling myself I'll finally get past the damn part, but then I'll get fifteen minutes in, get killed, and then just be too scared to do it all over again. I'm one section away from finally getting past it though. I just need to quit coming up with reasons to do anything else but play the game.

Most recent fear quit happened when I made the mistake of backtracking to that save point right before you have to get the meds in that level with the armed survivors. The game clearly punishes you at times for being too cautious, as there should have been no reason for the alien to stalk the same two rooms and a hallway for twenty minutes, only leaving for about ten seconds at a time before coming back to sniff at the locker I was cowering in.

The beauty of horror games man. I'm the same way sometimes. When I played through Amnesia The Dark Descent for the first time, I can't tell you how many times I fear quit. But you end up wanting more for some weird adrenaline rush.

Like I said. It's masochism. The funny thing is that I sometimes use the game to wind down after the stress of doing school work for hours... which ends up being far less stressful than five minutes of Alien: Isolation.

I still need to give Alien: Isolation a proper play through. I've watched streams but never played it for myself.

It's also on my playing list when I get my PS4 soon, most reviews are negative on it but The Batlord seems to think its God's gift to gaming, which is the only reason I'm considering it.

Maybe Dead Space gets scarier later on, but I was never a tenth as freaked out as when I play Isolation. You just can't help but be ultra-alert every second of the game. It looks like the game borrows heavily from the vibe I assume Amnesia has.

I watched Markiplier's and Pewdiepie's playthroughs before I ever got the game, which gave me the false impression that the game wouldn't be that scary for me, but all they did was give me a crash course in what to do and what not to do. So I don't have the frustrating, trial-and-error learning curve that the game requires getting in the way of total immersion. And since the game doesn't rely on scripted jump scares, you never really know just how the game is going to terrify you next. I'm sure you've seen other players get freaked out the first time they get caught in a vent, and I assure you, that is indeed one of the worst experiences you will ever have in a game. The plot may have been ruined, but that's not really the point I guess.

Same here. The guy pretty much said what everyone else has ever said: amazing for most of the game, but the last third drags, and while I think he's talking about lag for the PS4 for the cut scenes there is no lag for the 360 version.

And thank Jesus that bit at the end, where the guy got caught going into the vent, has never happened to me. I imagine it involved a lot of, "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD I'M DEAD I'M DEAD HOLY **** THERE'S A VENT GET IN THE VENT GET IN THE VENT NNNNOOOO!!!!!!!!"

19:43 to about 21:10 in this vid is just epic vent action. I love how this dude doesn't do exaggerated personas/reactions. He's just that big of a pussy.

Jev's my new favorite. He makes me feel brave. Supposedly there were copyright issues that stopped him from being able to finish that and his The Evil Within playthrough. He could just have pussed out, but he's still doing horror playthroughs, so...

Is that all he does? playthroughs of horror games?
