What Is Pluralistic Ignorance? (with picture)

That's pretty much what I've been saying. It's not the general populace being terrorists that allows for death sentences for blasphemy, it's a climate of relative religious conservatism that allows the more extreme elements to flourish. Without that the real nut jobs wouldn't have the environment necessary to become as extreme as they are. Your average American may not be a Born Again Evangelist, but they are more religious than, say, your average Swede, which allows for our more conservative outliers to be even more conservative than they would be there. So even if your average Pakistani is relatively moderate, they still help to produce the current religious climate, even unintentionally.

Both Hamas and Israeli government who are behind the reckless bombing are ****ing terrible though. The Palestinian citizen death toll has reached over 1,000, a big amount being children. Mostly because they are playing a children's game of NO YOU started it. No YOU. NO YOU!

I didn't even realise that. I don't like hate-crimes in any form. Thanks for the info bb.

I have to say that I think both sides are as guilty as each other. However, I am fully against the bombing of civilians and innocent children. The sad thing is we can't do much about it. I don't think they will listen even if western countries intervened.

At Park View, worksheets for sex and relationships lessons contained said that if a woman said no to sex with her husband, the Angel Gabriel would strike her down and condemn her to an eternity of hell. Following these lessons, there was commotion in the corridors, with boys telling girls that they couldn't refuse them and saying: "We have been told this".
The worksheets were hidden from Ofsted inspectors.

Good for her for being so open and public about it, hopefully her transition goes well and will be a positive inspiration for some people.

Girls Trapped In Filthy Home For 3 Years While Couple Played World Of Warcraft

Quote:

A couple in Fullerton, California, who kept two girls locked inside a mobile home for three years was convicted on multiple charges Tuesday.

Petra Huffmire and Lester Huffmire, both 41, pleaded guilty to child abuse, false imprisonment, and contributing to delinquency of a minor, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

For three years, the couple played World of Warcraft for hours on end each day while two underage female relatives lived in filthy conditions. The girls, who the Huffmires did not allow to leave the home, were ages 5 and 10 when they were found by authorities in May 2013.

The home’s interior was covered in mold, cobwebs, feces and trash, and officials found a pile of used condoms underneath a teddy bear.

This isn't a news article but I felt it was appropriate to post. I go on a website, Twitch.tv, which some of you know, where people record themselves playing videogames. Anyway I found a streamer who is quadriplegic who uses special computer equipment to play games with just his mouth. I felt kind of sad and inspired at the same time that someone with such a disability has such a positive attitude. I am sure there are tons of people like him who are equally inspiring but I have never had the opportunity to appreciate it until I watched his stream. He plays League of Legends, WoW, and Diablo III from what I have seen. It's pretty amazing what he can do with his special equipment.

Here is a link to his stream. Toss him a follow if you feel like showing him some support without having to spend money. It will help with his stream.

Good articles.

-WoW neglect 3 years. That is despicable. I play MMORPGs too and my room isn't even dirty.

-Man dies from vibrator. Shame vs your life. Wow what an awkward situation.

-Penis map. Has the balls, shaft, and even the urethra represented by a river. It doesn't get any better than that.

-Quadriplegic gamer. Right on, that's 21st Century technology at it's best there. It reminds me of the blind gamer who played Ocarina of Time. Not only is it an awesome feat of talent, but it gets me to view Zelda in a way I've would have never perceived otherwise.

Yeah, as someone who suffered through depression and extreme anxiety it really pissed me off seeing one of my heroes feel that way. I used to think Henry Rollings was pretty open minded, pretty damn intelligent, someone to look forward to being one day in terms of being a good person. Most of the people I've been closest too... so close that I could tell them anything... have attempted suicide at least once in their lives, and I would never, ever think less of them. I would be extremely upset, and heartbroken if one my friends committed suicide, but why on earth would I blame them, think less of them, demean them? I would want to remember all the good times we had, all the stupid fun things we did, being there for them when they needed it, making them feel better when they were down.

Depression can be pretty fucking serious, and it really fucks with your head. You start believing really fucked up things, and it's almost like you're stuck in a black hole not being able to escape. I've spent many days waking up, and going to bed looking at my pill bottles on my night stand wondering if today is the day I will down the whole thing and be able to finally escape.

Mojo 08-23-2014 12:16 AM

I liked the bloke too. I paid to see him on several occasions. I thought he was intelligent, I thought he was amusing and entertaining, and I thought his taste in music was pretty decent too. Over the years there has been one or two bands I've first read about via Henry Rollins, and he's written about friends bands too so I'd say he has his ear to the ground for new music.

I can only presume that witnessing a friend shot in the head with a shotgun helps to account for his attitude towards suicide, which seems to stem from a very firm pro-life perspective. I do find myself very disappointed in his judgement of those who have taken their own lives though. He shows a total lack of empathy and the fact he has suffered himself just makes that harder for me to comprehend. I wonder, God forbid, if there isnt even a self-serving, congratulatory reasoning behind it. A pat on his own back, knowing he has been there himself and come through the otherside, armed with a disdain for those who werent so fortunate.

Whatever the reason, its pretty ****ing insulting to anyone who have had their own mental health struggles, ever considered suicide, or know people who have.
