Which is why Deftones is meh and irrelevant.

Saying/Thinking that a band is **** when you haven't ever given that band/musician a fair shot with an open mind is easily the most pretentious thing any "musician" can say or do. I think it's fair to say that most users here are guilty of just that.

Which is why I can tell Deftones to eat a dick since I've gone out of my way to listen to them.

I still think it's valid to tell Deftones to eat a fat one even if I have never heard a single album from them. The same way I can tell Nickleback to really eat a fat one.

I've listened to a Nickelback album though. Which is why I am comfortable saying that they have a fun song or two but the idea that they have anything resembling an actual album is hilarious. Unless they just so happen to have gotten their **** together at some point, which would be flabbergasting.

Copped Eminem's "Revival" and K-Dot-O-Dot's "The Bobby Lonely Story" yesterday. Bobby Lonely was fucking awesome! Haven't had time to listen to Em reel-to-reel yet.

This is why I began my "Love or Hate?" thread, am listening to all the albums from this year (as per Wiki) and have started that Genre Gateway thread.

No, it isn't. How can you know how good or bad a band is without ever listening to them? There are plenty of bands I thought I'd hate (JAMC being a good example) but never listened to, then when I did, found out they were excellent. And others that I found out were terrible, but at least I listened to them.

Nickelback are indefensible. I have heard one album. I have looked into the face of mediocrity and lived to tell the tale. Watch for the serialisation of my ordeal, beginning soon in all major newspapers.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!

This has got to be the best post-rock album I've ever heard. So far I have found the majority of post-rock to be beautiful, but ultimately soulless. Not so. Skinny Fists is moving from start to finish, and beautifully balanced.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-16-2017 09:42 PM

one of very few post rock albums that doesn't become tedious a couple tracks in

Which is honestly very impressive given it's about six billion hours long.

Jon Brion - Meaningless (2001; Power Pop, Pop Rock, Piano Rock)

This is the exact recipe that went into making this album:

2 parts Ben Folds Five
2 parts Elliott Smith
1 part Rufus Wainwright
1 part Fiona Apple

It sounds like that for a reason. Jon Brion has produced nearly all of these people. I feel like Jon Brion is the guy you never knew you knew the work of.

Anyways, interesting to see how obvious his production work is after hearing his solo stuff, which is decent, if a little whiny.

There's also a beautiful album by a band called Break My Fucking Sky which blew the top of my head off.

Foo Fighters have produced more than zero good songs.

^I made a joke, but I like some foo fighters songs. Nickelback can be a tolerable one of on occasion simply for nostalgia as well.

I love the song more so for nostalgic reasons. My band use to cover it back in high school, which is also around the time that I was a Foo Fighters fan.
