James LaBrie is a fantastic vocalist. I've seen DT live, and he's even better on stage than he is in studio. Definitely one of my favorites. I agree with Ant, the Images & Words days were his best. Especially when he sang this one live:

And this one also showcases his talent:

Doesn't always mean they're bad, though. I don't disagree. But I still think he's got great range.

Literally focused on nothing that I said. Why not mention his range? Maybe talk about what I said about the music instead of being snarky. Man, you've gotten really annoying to talk music with.

And cringe doesn't automatically equal bad. Cringe has nothing to do with musical talent.

He has range but he has no soul or sensible songwriting ability. You need at least two. Let me know if you'd like me to explain anything else.

It does for me, get used to it. If he was genuinely talented then he wouldn't be so godawful and cringy.

I strongly disagree but to each his own. I don't see how being cringy can relate to their musical talent. You don't even have to look at them unless they're doing a live show and sure, I guess you could hear the cringe but at that point you're not even listening to the music. Just focusing on one thing. Seems silly to put those together.

I define musical talent as being able to make good music. Cringy music is not good. If your music is cringy, then you lack musical talent. A very well practiced vocalist with range (though in Lebrie's case he has painfully limited dynamics, which is vital for a vocalist) is no more talented than a well made and maintained guitar. You have to be able to apply it well for you to have talent and if your application of your instrument (voice) is cringy then that's a knock on your musical abilities.

The cringe and the music are intertwined, dude. The cringe wouldn't exist without the music. Just because you're a fanboy doesn't mean that my criticism isn't valid or informed.
