I had problems with my old PS2 years ago, get a 360 its my fav of the current gen consoles and much better value than a PS3.

s_k 11-28-2011 04:14 AM

Not sure what it's like overthere, but overhere you get a new PS2 for like... 35 US Dollars.

here it's like $100

s_k 11-28-2011 04:57 AM

Lol, that's what mine cost new.
It was the last one in that store, damaged box. 80 euro's.

Goofle 11-28-2011 06:37 AM

Majora's Mask was a pain 'cause I didn't have/want a walk through. The three day period to get sh*t done did my head in.

I polished off Battlefield 3's campaign today. Wasn't a big fan of the ending, but it was a pretty good ride. I then proceeded to get my ass handed to me online. Somehow I've lost much interest in video games over the years. Don't really have the time for them anymore.

just went to the shop and asked about it

the mod IC unit is not working, shopkeeper said it'll cost around US$40

i'm probably gonna bring it to a shop that is on better terms with me (due to me buying obscene amounts of games from them) figger it'd get fixed for $25-30

edit - am i getting bamboozled here or what? i did a search and an IC chip only costs $3

If it cost $3 on the net and $40 in the shop sounds like he`s trying to rip you off there, but I suppose he could have $37 worth of labour costs involved:finger:

s_k 11-29-2011 04:31 AM

Exactly. It still has to be put in and the IC probably has 32 feet :D.
That's about half an hour of work, taking apart and reassembling included.

Its a tough job, $37 for labour sounds like a real bargain.

Uncharted 3

It's okay. It's kinda boring but it's not lacking anything technically. It's a little too predictable, and so far not as fun as the second one.

How far in are you? The first half is really slow. From chapter (I think) 11 and on, it blows U2 out of the water.

Sparky 11-30-2011 04:42 PM

Yeah i just got to 11. It was extremely boring the first couple hours, it's like a movie where you occasionally get to control your character.

The first two games started out really great-uncharted 1 shootout on the boat, and the seconds sneaky infiltration of the museum.

But for some reason the tutorial went on for hours in this game.

The graphics are absolutely ridicoulus, such attention to detail, Drakes shirt was starting to get sweat stains while i was progressing on one level. Thats some uncanny valley ****

Thom Yorke 11-30-2011 04:45 PM

I didn't mind them focusing more on the story and having more down time, but it got to be a bit too much at times. I thought chapters 8 and 9 was the worst part of the game.

The set pieces in the second half of the game are absolutely incredibly. I had so much playing it, and it looks beautiful.

Mykonos 11-30-2011 05:21 PM

Stalker doesn't work. F€]¥~![$~!]{~${fjsbfrkwnfejsnfbejsnfekdnf

I'm just going to carry on with New Vegas. Might try and reinvent River Tam from Firefly as a Mojave assassin or something.

What kind of error message are you getting with S.T.A.L.K.E.R? It may be something as simple as downloading new video card drivers.

I'm a 360 owner and not a PS3 owner and let me just say... no, the 360 is most certainly not a better value.

PS3's games are getting better while 360 hasn't had a very interesting exclusive for a while (besides Gears 3). PS3 doubles as a blu-ray player while 360 doesn't. The PS3 has free online, the 360 is $60 a year (yes Live is better, but we're talking better value here). So I definitely disagree that the 360 is a better value.

I'm not saying the PS3 is better, by the way. I can't conclusively decide on that.

If you have $2,500 to spend, perhaps.

You're kidding right? Google "gaming pc build less than 1000" and you'll find a ton of guides to help you set up a rig that can run Skyrim and Battlefield for less than $1,000.

Yac 12-01-2011 03:57 AM

Well, let's see... Lately I play mostly Skyrim and Battlefield 3. Sometimes I also come back to World of Tanks and Civ 5. I also just bought LA Noir: complete edition.
Also, for a gaming PC you really don't need that much $, unless you want something ridiculous. I spent around 2k$ on my rig, but it is ridiculous. For something that will fulfill all your gaming needs, if you're not tech savvy enough, check out the PC Gamer Rig articles. This should give you a rough idea of what you should be aiming at.

debaserr 12-01-2011 11:28 AM

^ And that rig could definitely cut some corners.

Goofle 12-01-2011 01:54 PM

Still obsessing over FIFA 12. I actually play for the England team on it :)

Kirby 12-01-2011 03:39 PM

Just got my last achievement for Skyrim!

Now, I'm being all excited about the new South Park RPG coming out next year.

debaserr 12-01-2011 04:44 PM

^ Meaning you got every achievement there is? Did that take an insane amount of time to do?

96 Hours and 37 Minutes.

Still playing though, lol.

The original Bioshock, a bit baffled by it thus far, buttons are far too responsive as well.

Or upgrade the shotgun all the way.

Stick with it, the single player is probably the best I've ever played for an FPS.

Really? I always thought of Bioshock (both 1 and 2) as having a setting that was more interesting than the actual gameplay which I felt was a little flawed. It's hard to put my finger on what the exact problem was, but I guess it was little things in aiming and how you and enemies move etc. It just didn't "feel" brilliant to me. Still excellent games, mind you!

.. But I think of Half-Life 2 f.ex as a better game and a better single player experience, especially if you also count Episode 2. It has an awesome setting and the gameplay was just brilliant. And this game (not counting episodes) is now 7+ years old!

My idea of best focused more on the setting, mood, and story of the game (this one especially being something that most FPS's lack) rather than the gameplay, so I stand by my pick. :thumb:

I won't argue that the gameplay isn't quite 'brilliant' but then again I've never found an FPS's gameplay to be that brilliant. Guess I'm just not a big FPS fan.

Yac, I didn't know you played BF3.
Add me on Battlelog: CheapViagra
I doubt we could play well on the same server, due to the pings involved, but still.
I haven't played since Skyrim came out, but once B2K drops I'll be back on it for sure.

Oh, and RVCA, we need to do some co-op sometime. I still haven't even played it.

Yeah, some pretty crazy set pieces for sure. I hope they add some mysticism soon, like some supernatural beasts or something, i'm sure they will since it's uncharted but im on chapter 19 and nothing of the sort yet.

The sinking ship was pretty cool but i still think the overall gameplay is still far too linear and riggid for my enjoyment bruh. Like there are instances where the situation is so much more difficult if i don't play it exactly how the developers envisioned. Like if i don't take cover at this spot at this moment im going to die.

Its also annoying having to play the fighting minigame while snipers are shooting at me.

Overall, this game is still an exceptional feat in game production-sound, visuals, voice acting etc, but lacks a sense of reward and progression. It would have been nice to include an upgrade or merchant like resident evil 4, where i could sell my treasure and level up my guns or armor or something. Im super drunk.

Statement of a generation. A lot of people seem to ignore Half Life 2 because of the age of it. They're missing out, big time. I only played it this year and the whole experience is one of the best I've had in gaming. The whole thing feels like a seamless combination of a feature film and an excellent FPS. And some of the boss fights are horrible, in a good way.

Yes! I love Half-Life 2 and have played through it several times actually. One of the finest games ever made :)

You can't really do that at the start of the game, though, unless perhaps you're cheating.

Mykonos 12-03-2011 04:35 PM

I think HL2 ties with Morrowind for the best game I've ever played. It certainly has my favourite moment (a bit where you fall down into a sewer and Barney shouts something. I think I can avoid spoilers as most players will know the bit I'm on about).

RVCA 12-03-2011 04:42 PM

Been playing a lot of Forza 3 with the housemates. We discovered "simulation damage" mode, and the game has basically devolved into strategically ramming each other to cause engine and axle damage to your opponent.
