Frank Ocean - Channel Orange

R&B with some Hip Hop but it's really brilliant and you might enjoy it.

Okay well then go ahead and put me down for both "Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas" and "A Sunny Day in Glasgow - Sea When Absent", however I'm more interested in your thoughts on the former so put that one on the list first

Hehe. Cocteau.

And, as my last one for a good minute, I'm gonna throw in...

Violent Femmes - Hallowed Ground

And you can throw that ahead of my other two recs, cause I'm more curious about your thoughts on that one.

Title: Silver
Artiste: Jesu
Genre: Post-Metal/Shoegaze/Sludge (?)
Familiarity: Zero; heard one track I think on the now-defunct Mixtape thread
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_(Jesu_EP)

Track 1(Love) Not what I expected at all. Hard, heavy, almost distorted guitars and a quiet voice that is actually a little hard to make out (too low in the mix?). Slow song with a sense of grunge and doom metal about it I feel. Like it a lot.
Track 2(Love) More uptempo and energetic, and I can hear the singer better now. Shoegaze (if that's what this is) does tend to drown out the vocals a lot, so maybe that's it.
Track 3(Love) Slower, more crunching and buzzy even, but I like this one too.
Track 4(Love) Love the kind of marching beat on this one, the vocoders (?) and then kind of metal guitar near the end.

End result: Yeah, I really enjoyed this. If this is shoegaze, then I preferred it a whole lot more to MBV, which I could not get into at all. I'd also like to say thanks to Machine for choosing an album (EP) with only four tracks, which allowed me to get this one done really quickly.

So, Love or Hate? Definite Love

Chances of a full review: 8/10

Yeah, these are good points: although I said FCFS, if you want the order of your recs to be switched around I'm happy to do that, as I did with Goofle and Kitty. Just let me know, preferably before I add them to the list later tonight.

I gotta say I'm pretty surprised you liked Jesu so much. I thought that would be a definite hate.

I was a little scared that he wouldn't like it.
